summers wasted era:
In a chemistry class at Morse High School, drummer Daryl Elayda and guitarist/vocalist Romulo Maliksi came together and mutually agreed to experiment with their talents, despite having contrasting musical influences. Talks about starting a band together went on for months before the two would get together and jam. At the time, Romulo and his brother, bassist Ron Maliksi, had their hands tied with other musical projects, of which they eventually parted from. Originally, the band was intended to be a four piece, with another drummer, Daryl on guitar, Ron on bass, and Romulo on vocals. But unfortunately, that lineup never solidified, and Daryl, Romulo, and Ron would stick as three to form the original "summers wasted". There were many names considered before choosing the one that came to Daryl as he brought in groceries from the car, but wow how the name stuck.
Summer is a time of romance, often short-lived, effort-consuming, and mind-poisioning. But as one reflects on the experiences of the unfortunate events, he comes out stronger and better that he ever could have been without. Although you've lost, more importantly, you've gained.
//summerswasted era:
The first EP Fear of Yesterday was recorded and released that summer. The band's first show was in Poway, Ca in October 2003. Almost a year would pass, and the band "//summerswasted" would add the talents of good friends guitarist Allen Veach and pianist Mike Veach (of at the time Murrieta, Ca) into the mix to form the 5-piece of summer 2004. Their second EP A Plan Behind Destruction was released on Spring 2004. Months later, the Veach bros. would part from the band. At this point in time, the band had nearly twenty shows under their belt, stretching all over San Diego, reaching the Inland Empire, extending to the Greater Los Angeles area, and creating a worldwide fanbase with the help of their strong internet-based self-promotion.
|summerswasted| era:
A Short time after, the addition of Ray Dacumos (San Diego, Ca) on September 2004 would complete the lineup as it is today, a band now known as |summerswasted|". Together, they recorded their first LP, Symphony of a Gun, that is yet to be released, but currently available to listen right here on Myspace.com. The band went on an indefinite hiatus on September 2006.
