Since their inception in April of 2004, Summit
Avenue has earned the tag as one of the best up and
coming bands in the Twin Cities and Midwest.
Summit Avenue, consisting of Ben Anderson (vocals,
acoustic guitar, piano), Josh Kobow (vocals, bass),
Tony Leif(guitar, vocals) and Jeff Worden (drums),
have blended rock, pop and blues music into a single
style that has been entertaining crowds across the
midwest.
During the summer of 2005, Summit Ave appeared at the
2005 Cities 97 Basilica Block Party with Pete Yorn,
the Wallflowers, Better Than Ezra, Blue Merle, Big
Head Todd, Carbon Leaf, and Marc Broussard.
The future looks very bright for this young and
ambitious group. The band released its much
anticipated first full length album As I
Am in October. Summit Avenue chose to work with
Jacques Wait (Minnesota Music Awards Producer of the
Year 2004) on the 10 tracks that define their
first album.
The band will be back in the studio in January of '08 to start recording their second full length album.
Summit Ave gives a new energy to what seems to be a new
form of blue collar rock that tears at your soul, yet
makes you want get up and move rather than simply sit in
contemplation. With great lyrics, soulful melodies and
killer vocals, you can tell instantly that the lead singer
was born to sing this style of music!
Hey guys, I don't know if u have any live recordings yet, or know if Bunker's has a very good setup for it, but I thought it would b a fun/good idea to maybe release a Live CD? Maybe even DVD? Even if they aren't of super high quality I'm sure some fans would love to have something like that. Anyway... See you at Bunker's.
Yo! I see you have 4pm for the Dome Show. Is that what time you'll be startin' up? Just wondering what time to get there in order to see you guys, let me know!
Just read the blog post... I will miss your shows. I had a lot of fun with the Hudson crew whenever we came out to cheer you on! Good luck in the future and see you all soon!
Brutal songwriter bash, and a chance for fans to lay down their support for live broadcasting of indies in the cities. Monday, March 2. Kitty Cat. Hope you can make it.
