a swift kick in the mouth, followed by a loving embrace
Our close and dear friends, family, fans, supporters, colleagues, co-workers, acquaintances, passer-bys, and wal-mart shoppers:
Through the last loud, riff-packed year and a half of forward motion, we would like to personally thank all involved with the making and producing of the band that has come to be known as Summon The Fleet. If we could, we would reimburse each and every one of yall for traveling expenses and persistently melted faced. But lets face it, it’s only been a year and a half and $3.75 will hardly buy a tank of gas and plastic surgery.
All joking aside (for this next paragraph), this update is to inform everyone that the fleet will be docked and tied. Guitars will be unplugged, cords coiled, and cymbals stashed away for the season of change has dawned on this ship. Here this now in plain and simple terms; Summon The Fleet as we know it will cease playing together. With a wedding approaching for our lead singer, Ben, and God planning to scatter us in different directions, we only see it fit to end things now while we’re on top. However, there will be one last chance to feast your eyes, ears, and nose upon these dirty shipmates. On April 5th at Visible School at 7 p.m. the Fleet will have their final send off by playing a FINAL show with The Appleyard. Completely free, no excuses.
So do not be disheartened, discouraged, dismayed or dismissed (I’m not done talking yet). There are better things upon the horizon for each member. Ben and his finance have a project/song writing coalition/great band called “Carolina Story” (give it a read). He also is able to spin multiple pieces of china on a stick and will join the circus if all else fails. Jaron has found his niche song writing and has a drive to make connections in the music industry along with outstanding crabbing skills; watch for him on the Deadliest Catch next Wednesday. John has been summoned across the seas to missions in Africa to spread the Good News and possibly share his pig squeals with the natives. In addition, John also works for Atari (which might explain his Pokemon fixation). Matt also shares a passion for missions as well as worship leading and gives Dave Crowder a run for his money (good luck growing the beard buddy). As for myself (Corey), I continue to pursue the heavier side of music and see where the Lord will take me.
Once again thanks for such an amazing voyage!
The Shipmen of Summon The Fleet bid thee farewell.
“This is not the end…”
