Sundance Jenkins was known throughout the South as Strawberry Nixon® for several years and began in 2002 as the acoustic duo of Mark and Brandon Swift playing shows all around the southeast. In July of 2003, the two teamed up with Mike Mink and Aaron Strickland who added the final touches to turn Strawberry Nixon into a full band. The four of them, along with their audio engineer Omar Soosani, traveled all over the Southeastern United States playing over 300 hundred shows, spreading their music and good-times lifestyle to everyone they met. With a recording deal in the works for Brandon the other members changed the name to Sundance Jenkins to reduce confusion when playing with or without him. Though this didn't really work since everyone who knew them as Strawberry Nixon still calls them that to this day. The band added lead guitar player Tripp Castleberry to the band in 2005 and have continued to play well over 500 shows together.
Traveling with a playlist that includes U2, Van Morrison, Counting Crows, Johnny Cash, Matchbox Twenty, Better than Ezra, 4 Non Blondes, Brooks and Dunn, basically a wide variety of covers that are perfect for most any event. Sundance Jenkins/Strawberry Nixon has been on hand to play with such acts as Ricochet, Andy Griggs, Vanilla Ice, Great White, Confederate Railroad, Seven Mary Three, and Afroman, performers who until now have yet to be included in the same sentence. They have unpacked their gear in six states and have played for club owners and fraternities in Atlanta, Jacksonville, Clemson, Auburn, Troy, and Nashville, Tennessee; arriving as unknowns to their audience, but often being quickly invited back for return engagements.
