How I made my profile: I used Dave & Jay's amazing myspace profile editor.
Sunifyde began in 2005 when guitarists Travis Moreland, at age 16, and Brad Leatherman, at age 23, began to jam with each other with original drummer Andrew Williams. When it was decided they were going to pursue the music further they added bass player Sean Baymiller and the group was formed. They decided on the name Nerv and began to play local events such as the American Cancer Society’s Relay for life, and travel all over Missouri to compete in battle of the bands and local bars. Later the group found out the name Nerv had already been taken so they came up with Son of Hyde (Dr. Jackal and Mr. Hyde) and for grins and a general liking they combined the words to form Sunifyde. In late 2005 the band decided to replace drummer Andrew Williams with a more technical drummer named Doug Harrison. The band began to get it’s fan base started after the replacement. Many demo songs were recorded and well praised so the band decided they were really going to try to pursue the music as more than just a hobby. As time went by the newest addition to the group (Harrison) began to distance himself and he was replaced by current drummer Jeremiah Goings, age 28. Jeremiah gave the group a more progressive sound than what had previously been a more metal oriented percussion section. They group had much more chemistry after the replacement due to past sessions with Brad and Jerimiah in high school. After what was thought to be the last lineup change in the near future, bassist Shawn Baymiller left the group in June 2007, to pursue a career in law. They didn’t search long as many people wanted the open spot in the band due to their current success. Brad and Travis looked to friend and jam partner Cy McConnell to finalize the lineup. McConnell had previously only played guitar but picked up the bass quickly enough it didn’t impede on the group’s progress and the band began to play shows all over the Midwest. They are currently recording their first studio album, which is scheduled to be out late August 2008.
Growing up in the rolling farmlands of central Missouri, there is little to do with your time and energy. Therefore jamming is essential to life in the widwest, and Sunifyde has used this medium to explore and define this rural backdrop.
Their music rolls from melodic ambience to screaming furosity and back. Every bit of their souls is poured into the creation of each song, and every song has a unique aura of its own letting it stand out individually and still become one with the crowd.
