Sunil Dev Shrestra is a young Nepalese flute player. His favorite instrument is the bass flute in F. His repertoire is based on traditional Nepali music and Indian classical music. He plays raga and improvisations in the traditional festivals and millenary temples of the Bhaktapur area.
His first master is Nepalese flute player Prem Autari,whose guru was legendary Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia.
Sunil performs in Hindu festivals, traditional ceremonies, but also since 2004 tours in Europe. He has performed already five time in Paris for the "Partis quartier d'été festival" and in Lyon at the Nuit de Fourviere festival.
Since that thime, he also went to study in Bombay with his master's guru, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia.
Sunil performs Indian classical music with a freah approach and a very unique style.

Sunil Dev Shrestra est un jeune flûtiste Népalais de 25 ans. Son instrument favori est la flûte basse de roseau (en Fa). Son répertoire est celui de l Inde classique. Il joue les ragas de l Inde du Nord dans les fêtes traditionelles et les temples millénaires de la région de Bakhtapur.
Son maître, son Guru est Prem Autari, flûtiste de renommée internationale dont le Guru est lui même le flutiste indien Chaurasia.
L intérêt de ces musiciens Népalais est qu'ils redonnent vigueur à la musique indienne. Leur interprétation tonique, montagnarde, naïve parfois la rend beaucoup plus fraîche, touchante et actuelle de celle des maîtres de Bénarès.
Sunil se produit lors des « Festivals » hindous, les fêtes traditionnelles très vivaces au Népal avec son compagnon tablaïste : le meilleur du Népal.
Au travers de son travail, on peut mieux comprendre comment cette musique classique de lInde du Nord se perpétue jusquà aujourdhui.

întérêt de la musique de Sunil est de pouvoir pénétrer à travers lui dans une meilleure compréhension du polythéisme Hindou et de la musique classsique indienne.
Sunil appartient à la tribu des Newar. Cette tribu très religieuse mélange animisme, hindouime et bouddhisme
Cest une très rares occasions où on peut voir la musique classique interprétée dans un contexte traditionnel comme il y a des centaines dannées . A létat brut.
Sa musique est une expérience de méditation, un véritable massage de cerveau !
