‘SunnyBeatz Production’ is a production unit driven by Sunny L mainly in laid-back and uplifting tune such as Chill-out, Lounge music & Down tempo. Besides; House, Nu jazz and Hip-Hop are also Sunny’s choices.
Sunny was born in Hong Kong in the late 80’s. By the influence of his father’s listening habit, he was exposed to a music which affects his life: ‘Jazz’. The first track little Sunny got enthusiastic with is, ‘The Girl from Ipanema’ by Antonio Jobim. Later on, he started searching for more related genres of jazz music. Without doubts, he was definitely the loner enjoying in jazz music despite his age in primary school.
In High school, Sunny has learnt alto saxophone by his enormous interests in jazz music. By the music video game influences: Beatmania & Popnmusic, Sunny was exposed to new concepts of music such as Nu jazz , Acid jazz, House & Lounge music. He kept his effort in digging out more music in these genres. Café Del Mar , Mr. Scruff, DJ Shadow, Jakatta, Jamiroquai, Fantastic Plastic Machine, Mondo Grosso, Nicola Conte, Koop, De-phazz, St. Germain, Kyoto Jazz Massive, Jaga Jazzist, Jazzanova, Wagon Christ.. are all his favorites.
In April of 2008, Sunny has finally put his head and gave a shot in Music Production by the coincidence of coming across few music producers on youtube. He started seeking for more things about music production in forums and finally purchased a midi-keyboard controller to make big business: KORG MicroKontrol . ‘Skyline Dolphin’ was the first debut Sunny has proudly presented.
Currently, Sunny is working with Fruity Loops Studio & Reason and studying in university with a major in English. He has kept working hard on academic and doing better in his music production the same time by getting himself exposed to more music.
“I don't 'write' music as I just 'make' it. From as little as 3 notes, a track can emerge. It's all a slow process involving MORE LISTENING THAN CREATING. My peaceful mind would guide me where to take the notes, and where to leave it.”
