Other-wise
A gutsy convention-defying gender-euphoric one-person show
weaving theatre, magical animation, movement, puppets & multimedia
This morning I lost my homework and the dog ate my gender. Children, can you say trans-gender? Animated creatures whisk us into worlds of magic as Sunny explores boy tits, coming out to family, learning to fly and getting comfortable with contradictions and not knowing. As funny as it is moving, Other-wise is a testament to the courage it takes to be true to oneself.
Warning: you will only understand this show if you are human & born on planet earth. If you’ve ever tried to fit into other people’s expectations or been worried someone wouldn’t understand or be proud of you, then this story is also about you.

a solo multi-genre confession of a romance-a-holic
”I’m a romance-a-holic. I’ve been this way for years. I’m quitting though – cold turkey”. An embarrassing and exposing look at Sunny’s internal world of fantasies, run-ins with the polyamory police, green monsters, and how internalised capitalism and relationship scripts play out...

Hey! The article was made/finished but there were so few people in yearbook that term they had to wait to publish another newspaper until they got more stories. But from what my friend said who was there it should be ready soon =)
Most of the people I knew who went to the performance were really moved and enjoyed it very much so I think it was a major success. If there's a next time I'm sure we can get more people to go to make it even better.
Thank you so much for coming to my school today, I hope it helped you as much as it helped us. Cant wait to hear what people say when school starts again, and I'll make sure you get a copy of the newspaper when it gets printed =)

Thanks you for continuing to put your art out into the world. Every time I see you perform, its like you've snuck into my brain and pulled out my deepest hidden thoughts. Its pretty incredible and rare to experience art that feels so personally relevant and validating. I hope to see you again in the not-too-distant future! xo, Max.
