About Sunset Black:
Formed in Kansas City, MO in 1997, Sunset Black began performing at local venues. In August of 1999 the band relocated to Minneapolis and took the local music scene by storm. The big break came after the band won a battle of the bands and got to perform at 93X-FEST in front of 30,000 people. Their debut album, Common Ground (MCA Records), released in 2002, afforded Sunset Black the opportunity to share the stage with bands such as Linkin Park, Staind, Fuel, System Of A Down, Incubus and many more.
Common Ground is a compilation of emotionally driven hard rock that is as much melody and beauty as it is power and intensity. Each track features dynamic, multi-layered guitarplay, a tight rhythm section and beautiful melodies with raw, heartfelt lyrics.
Since reuniting in May of 2008, original members Brandon Sammons (vocals/guitar), Mike Evans (guitar) and Jamie Gehly (drums) welcomed bass player Scotty Springer whom they met in Los Angeles, a place all four now call home. “In life, people are always wondering what they are supposed to be doing and if its right. For the four of us, creating music together is right. So getting back together is what we are supposed to be doing,” said Brandon.
For those who want rock music back. For those who want something more. For those who want to take a musical and emotional journey...You are invited to partake in the first steps of what will be the new rock revolution.
Ahh the new sound is fresh, clean, with intent, forward thinking but still a little old school at the same time, emotional but not overpowered, meaningful but not trite, its being 18 years old again and watching you guys onstage, swaying with the rhythm
what up dudes? we really need to figure out a way to bring you boys back to minnesota to play a show sometime soon. you fly here and use our gear...then we'll fly to LA and party for a good while. what say you?
WOW the new song is killer. Right at the end the Bassline really pops. Wish I could make it to the show. Good Luck, sell merch and get the new album out.
If "Go" and "Never Again" are any indication of how your next album is going to be, I think it will be my favorite album ever. The new tracks are awesome guy's. Can't wait for the new cd!
Hey, just comin by to say thanks for the support!!! When are you gonna post new songs? If you get a chance come on by & drop a comment with your thoughts on the demos.
I've been listening to a song you guys did since 2002-2003ish or earlier called "Over"... I think... I was wondering if there have been any other recordings done of it or if you can help me find the lyrics... It's always been one of my favorite songs, and I hopped that it would be a bonus track on common ground or even the B-side album you guys put out but I can't find a trace of it anywhere... Oh, and if you're unsure which song I'm talking about it's around 7 minutes long, the opening verse goes like "wish I could be... so wonderful... wish I could be... so beautiful..." the chorus is "where ya gone, I finally found what I want"... I think, haha thanks.
