mine. then anything by Kevin Smith. clearly. Poorboyz and Teton Gravity make some seriously watchable flicks. but in terms of stuff in the cinemas, things like Shaun of the Dead, Hero (amazingly shot i thought), Batman Begins gave me that tingle that i first got when the Matrix came out, anything with Arnold Schwarznegger (well done Fox with the Commando special edition), Peter Jacksons early stuff (Braindead and Bad Taste in particular), things involing martial arts, Ong Bak (i was nearly ejected from the cinema when Tony Jaa threw down that scorpion kick), Warrior King (how many broken arms? - never fuck with another guys elephants...) Brotherhood of the Wolf and druggy/gangster things like Go, Blow, Layer cake - or however they spell it with numbers instead of vowels, how clever - etc

is fairly evil. except planet earth. that was good. and the mighty boosh, but i watched most of that on the interweb so it doesnt count. green wing is now back to its surreal best after a ropey start to the second series. lazy summer weekends with a cool beer and the motoGP on is v pleasant.

i should read more. but then again, so should everyone until we are all as clever as Stephen Fry. the last few books i read and liked were: how to be idle, freakanomics, catcher in the rye, no logo, fear and loathing in las vegas, perfume, vernon god little (a survey in the metro said it was one of the least finished books ever - how odd), a riot of our own, the alchemist, ok im going way back now. also, everything by Joe Simpson; he manages to communicate a love for the mountains i share. and an honourary mention to tony daffern's "Avalanche Safety: For Skiers & Climbers" is constantly to hand in the winter.
