Overly gregarious, I’m always on the hunt for inspiring, talented, intellectually stimulating people that in turn, enhance my life. I’m the annoying person that sings in the shower every morning....badly I might add, but with zeal! I annoy my friends with my upbeat attitude some days. I can almost always turn a negative situation into a positive one in the course of any conversation. I abhor gossip and trash talk. Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.” My grandmother once recited this to me when I was young and it just stuck in my head. I’ve tried to live this credo, as much a possible. I currently own and operate a landscape nursery called Arcadia and landscape design/ build operation. After graduating from Harvard with a Masters in Landscape Architecture the pursuit of refining nature to create a personal paradise has been my lifes ambition. Since my brothers unsuccessful struggle with cancer at the age of 15, I decided early on that every day counts, every person has a story, and I want to make every chapter of life meaningful not only to myself but to others as well. I’m a person that dreams BIG! If something seems crazy or insurmountable I always pose the question in my mind, “Whats the worst thing that can happen if I fail?" If the only factor holding me back is fictitious fear then I’ll typically go for it. If I’m at a party you’ll defiantly hear me laugh from across the room. People don’t laugh enough! I love oysters and sushi. I know its going to kill me but I find the risk vs. reward acceptable. I tolerate picky eaters,but I think most their idiosyncrasies limit true enjoyment of so much good food and good health. If I’m in a bad mood, I can always find solace in a place of nature.....a quiet grove.....a long walk......falling leaves..... a long dirt road with nothing but sky. Its all there for the asking....your inner voice if you really listen. My best friend has Lou Gerigs disease, check out her cute face in my pictures file. I e-mail her religiously every day. Her plight always puts my daily life into perspective. No matter how bad things seem, it pales in comparison to her daily struggles. She listens with an open heart. That's a rare gift. I’m lucky to have her in my life. I’ll end with this story. I went out with some friends and as a game we all asked each other to arrive a three words to describe each of us. For me they chose, hardworking, unflappable, and introspective. I guess I’m not a weed anymore. They found my true virtues.
