I just got your EP in the mail! I almost forgot you sent it-- a brilliantly pleasant surprise; my friends that were around at the time of the unveiling were also really impressed with the packaging! They were kinda like "man I don't know what's on this, but that is some really sweet encasement."
Anyhow, my mind is not all here at the time, but I felt like letting you know I got it and how excited I was to receive it, etc etc etc...
I know a reliable drummer, and I could help out with synths and live vocals, too. So if you ever found a way to hop on over, the option is totally available. Likewise if I ever found a way to get to the UK, I would love to play a show with you. Unfortunately, saving up for a vehicle and now rent is making that unrealistic.
I've only seen polysics once, last year as well I believe? Maybe earlier this year? I don't remember. But one can never get enough polysics, I say. They've been coming around america once a year it seems ever since they've gotten in with myspace records, so hopefully I'll be seeing them again next summer. In that case, summer needs to speed up!
Apparently I think my animation is already gonna be featured in a film festival out of state? That's pretty awesome. I gotta start cranking out more, though. Can't slow down!
Also, ruh-roh, looks like myspace cut off my comment because it was too long-- I think I was saying I feel like a jerk for not providing more art? I dunno, anyway. Postal service on strike? Oh dear. Makes me think of the amateur transplants song, 'london undergroud'. I look forward to recieving the EP though-- really exciting! I'm gonna show it off to all my friends, "LOOK AT WHAT I GOT 8D IT IS SO AWESOME" etc. I already made most of them listen to you already, pff. I love the packaging you've set the album up in, though. It's really clever. On a random note, any possibility of redoing commodore 64? I don't remember how the song went, but I remember really liking it.
Suddenly I feel like working on music... we'll see what happens.
Not a problem at all, sorry I write novels for comments! >A<; I tell people all the time that it's really a terrible shame you're in the completely wrong place to market your sound. If you ever ended up in the states, I would totally find a way to get you a show, some way or another. I think you should try for playing at anime conventions-- the demographic available there would be perfect, especially since you tend to use alot of anime references in your music and whatnot. I don't know how often they happen around UK in general, but they pop up all the time around here. If you did find your way down here, I could probably manage to get you one normal show and one performance at a convention if you'd be interested. Though of course, flying costs money, and that's something no one has these days.
I thought you saw polysics last year? Or was that in japan?
I'm glad you liked it! It's not all circuit bent stuff, though the majority of it is. My roommate's got a bunch of circuit bent things he bent himself, and they're SO much fun to play with. The ambient noise and some of the glitchy sounds are actually from my R3, and of course mike played guitar etc. We're hoping to enter it into film festivals. :3 Also, I have never animated anything before that, and /not/ everything I do turns out good. Trust me. I just don't publish it anywhere. xD
I'll send my addy in a message in a bit-- I was actually thinking of buying it off the site anyhow, but every time I see that it's $10 (which is still rather inexpensive) I think, "I can buy this awesome album, or I can feed myself for two days." Unfortunately, in tough economical times, the latter usually ends up the option. I would very much so appreciate you sending me a copy though-- that'd be fantastic! I still kinda feel like a jerk fo
Yeah, seemed like the gig wasn't the best, really in my opinion because the environment and the audience are a huge chunk of that, and neither of those seemed that great. I didn't notice that much though, honestly, because I was distracted by "wait what, those are my vocals! I did /not/ see that coming, it's almost kind of embarrassing" Of course I woulda been up there singing myself if I could, but it's eerie hearing your voice in a live environment you're not at when you're not expecting it, haha.
Polysics will never die in my heart, even if they never make another awesome album again-- they've already made a good bundle of them, and that's enough for me. Not to mention their undying live energy... TOISU!! I did hear one or two of the songs on the album yesterday though, and I was pretty indifferent.
I certainly agree-- part of why I stopped putting so much energy into my myspace page. Well, that and I haven't finished much new music lately. Not untill recently did I get another working copy of ableton, but I've been very busy lately. On the upside, I've been running into alot of musicians these days and have been cooking up plans to do some collaboration work. In fact, we already did some playing around with I Like Bears! (that song gets all the collaborative love it seems, both groups I've worked with have worked on that one) I haven't published anything with collaboration yet, but it sounds good. Though, the reason we worked on that track is because I was planning on using it for an animated short, but we decided it was the wrong mood setter completely, and went for a more eerie atmospheric pseudo-serious toned original score. You should definitely check it out: http://www.thelonliburr.com
(sorry for the essay-long comment, by the way.)
Anyway, back on the subject, I myself honestly mostly come on myspace these days to update my page and look up music. And get really excited when I see a bunch of new SCV things. Have
Ahh! SCV can never die! I'll go to Aber with a defibrillator if I have to!
Seriously, I love your music, and I really think you've got a bright future ahead of you! And yeah, I was really happy with how ganguro came out. C: Did I tell you about when I accidentally came across a live version that had my vocals in it?
No, I DIDN'T hear their new album yet-- I feel like I've been seriously missing out! Though I'm glad I finally saw them live this past summer, so I can die happy regardless.
Oh man, it's so great to see you back! Everything sounds really awesome, your so desu ka vid is really rockin', and the ep floppy discs/cd's look really badass too. Seriously, this made my day/week/month. I feel really bad now for not being able to give you better vocal recordings, but you worked really well around the recording quality. Cheers, and as cheesy as it is to close with this, keep it up!
