From Leeds, the city that in recent years has given us Kaiser Chiefs, Corinne Bailey-Rae and The Pigeon Detectives comes another great act; Superface. The sound mixes up big rock noises, heavy funk breakbeats, brooding atmosphere and catchy hooks. This stuff is modern, raw and infectious. Think Hendrix and Ian Brown with a touch of Massive Attack and you get somewhere near. Tracks from Superface’s debut EP ‘State Your Business’ has been featured on BBC Radio Leeds, www.totalrock.com, Leeds Student Radio and Rock Radio FM. The EP comprises five original tunes and is available to download from all good download sites including itunes, napster and emusic.
This project is the brainchild of guitarist and producer Robin Durbin. As session guitarist Durbin has supported Jamiroquai, Beverley Knight, Maceo Parker, Samantha Mumba, A1 and Liberty X. He has worked with vocalist Rhianna Kenny (‘Oh Baby’ ‘Word Love’ LSK, Faithless, Ian Brown), Martha (& the Vandellas) Reeves, disco legends Odyssey, Skip ‘Little Axe’ McDonald (Sugarhill Gang, Tackhead) and Leeds’ own Corinne Bailey-Rae. He can also be heard playing on recordings by other GLP artists Capri, Cara Robinson and Lara Rose. Live appearances are to numerous to list but include BBC TV and Radio, MTV, ITV, Heart FM, Glastonbury Festival, J-Wave (Tokyo), Hammersmith Apollo, Manchester Academy and Glasgow Barrowlands…you get the idea!
I can currently heard live playing with Leeds-based funk outfit Capri and singer song writer Cara Robinson. Both on Myspace; check them out.
Don't leave without adding. Don't add without leaving a comment!
My tunes explained: I Can See You is an obsessional song of unrequited love written from the point of view of a stalker! Monkey's Gonna Getcha is about getting out of your head and loosing control; something we all do now and again. Shine Like A Superstar is autobiographical and is meant to be kind of sarcastic. Nightime Lifetime is about the wierd stuff you dream about.

'This music was quite different to current trends however I can still see it have much commercial appeal. In my opinion, Superface fills a gap in the market, great music, really well performed and produced' ...www.thebeatsurrender.co.uk read full review
'The songs are catchy, take infinite twists and turns, the varied use of instrumentation really hits the eardrums and there is a definite groove. Superface are a mixture of Massive attack, Funkadelic and Ian Brown at his best and if I do say so myself, that’s not a bad mix at all.' ...www.theplasticashtray.co.uk read full review

'The underlining success of this EP is that Durbin is both guitarist and producer, so can draw upon much experience to craft his music with both
viewpoints, and he does so with considerable ease. This is magnificent.' ...www.oxideradio.co.uk
