About me:
With a history of over 1,500 years Shaolin encompasses every style. Students learn skills that will enhance their memory, increase flexibility, athleticism, coordination, and build strength and endurance. Shaolin martial arts is a complete system that teaches all forms of self-defense including stand up at the long, mid and close ranges, ground techniques, pressure points, joint locks, muscle/tendon separation, empty hand, classical weapons, modern weapons and more. Our students are from all walks of life, each pursuing different goals. Adults, teenagers, senior citizens, children, women and men all train at Shaolin Kung Fu. Some train solely for self-defense, others for fitness, weight loss, self-discipline, medical reasons or just for the appreciation of the beauty of culture and art. Students at Shaolin Kung Fu focus on more than just the physical characteristics of one’s growth. Lessons also place emphasis on morals and values to create a better balanced individual. The Shaolin Kung Fu school prides itself on creating a peaceful learning environment where everyone feels welcome. We train hard together and give each other the respect they deserve; treating everyone here as family.

These circumstances and people can affect how we see and deal with our world. We must be careful not to join in with this negativity. Because it is very easy to do, for example when someone talks about how bad the weather is we may join in and start criticizing and feeling horrible. But instead we should look at the world as a wonderful and beautiful place. If it is raining we should be thankful because the rain brings growth and life to our planet. If someone is criticizing about not having enough money, we should take a moment and be thankful that we have a warm bed and enough wonderful food to eat. What brings us unhappiness is not the lack of something material, it is a lack of emotional control. Try this little exercise, right now this very moment just smile and follow it with a strong rolling laugh. If you do this you will begin to feel wonderful! This is using your spirit to control your emotions. So remember a rich person is a person that knows they have enough. So may this day you feel the joy that is all around you, may you smile and laugh and may you send your positive energy out to everything in the universe. Developing a character that is Just, Courageous, Benevolent, Polite, Truthful and Loyal. This truly is training that takes a lifetime. We should become the type of person that others seek out for help and advice. By doing this we give back to the universe which has given us so much. But we truly must be careful as we become this person of honor not to become conceited and arrogant. Because if we do this instead of being a force of light we become a force of ignorance. So what we must do is be honorable while being humble. Humility is a great gift it teaches us the strength to be silent. It teaches us to be thankful and giving. It teaches us to listen and ask questions that comes from our heart. It teaches us to put aside our ego and love freely. So dear friend may this day you strive to be honorable and true of heart, standing straight and true like a mighty oak tree. May you balance your honor with humility always remembering the mighty oak will humbly bow to the great winds of the universe. Is it that everywhere we look we see things that are made by the hands of humans? These things that are human made can be truly wonderful and beautiful. But at times they can cloud our mind to what is truly important and beautiful. Because to be a creature of light and beauty we must stay connected to the divine force of the universe. That force is found in nature and natural things. It is so important that each day we connect with things that have been made naturally by the divine. If we are in a large city this may be done simply by going to a local park. If we are unable to do this we can simply look at pictures of nature and meditate allowing ourselves to be transported there in our mind. We must remember that we are part of nature, we come from the same life force that has made the oceans, mountains, valleys, clouds and heavens. So this day may you connect with nature and may the light of the universe fill you, so you can shine creating heat and warmth for all in need. Many blessings are all around us. We must remember if we stay on the road that is taking us in the wrong direction we will continue to move farther and farther away from where we truly want to be. So many times so many people feel trapped in their situation this can be due to many different factors and can be very difficult and heartbreaking. As difficult as it may be, it is time to very gracefully and lovingly exit the road that is going the wrong direction and seek out the road that will take us to our place of peace. As we are seeking out this road to peace, we must remember there are many beautiful roads that will take us to our place of peace we just need to use our heart to make our choice. When we do change to a different road, we will make sure to be considerate and loving of others feelings. Because a road that hurts others truly is not a road to peace. So dear friend may this day, may your road be beautiful and peaceful. May you feel the sunshine on your face and the love in your heart as you go on your way. But to learn from the past we must analyze what our resources are. The first most obvious resource is that of our own experiences. This is where we use the information of what we have experienced in the past to make our decisions for the future. Our second resource is the old writings. It truly is amazing how many old and beautiful books that teach us how to use the positive energy of the universe. Many times these classics are absolutely free, we just have to find them. If you study these old books you will realize that there are certain ideals such as the flow of positive and negative energy that do not change through time or space. And finally our last resource is that of our teachers. Our teachers are those who have experienced a great deal of living while they have been on this earth in the physical form. The positive energy of the universe just seem to flow through them. They consider themselves a student of the universe who just passes on the beauty that has been entrusted to them. It is a very important that we seek these teachers out and learn from their experience and the beauty of the universe that flows through them. So good friend may this day you see the beauty of experience that is all around you. May you use this beauty to guide and enrich your life. And of course may the universe give you every blessing.
