Interests

  • General

I like to cook, and of course eat (but I don't do dishes). Surfing the Web, Music, Movies, TV, Science, History and Personal Growth.

I used to play bass guitar but now I'm more of a collector with 4 electrics, an upright bass and a cheap one that I cut down to a stick bass and filed down the frets to make it fretless. I used to travel a lot and would take this fretless stick bass with me, and listen to it with a stethascope made for bass guitar, so I didn't need an amp. Send me an IM!
  • Music

Beatles, Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Rush, Chili Peppers, Green Day, Jaco Pastorius, Ron Carter,Charles Mingus and many others, especially if they have a great bass player. Years ago, I built a large collection of albums (yes, I am that old) by bass players but most of the albums got warped in storage. Sure wish I converted them to cd. I heard that I could flatten out the albums by placing them between a couple sheets of glass and set it in the sun. If I still had a turntable, I might try that. Send me an IM!
  • Movies

Comedies, Horror, Sci-Fi, Sci-Fi, Sci-Fi (Hi, my name is Lou and I'm a geek.... Hello Lou!) Send me an IM!
  • Television

Science Channel, History Channel, of course Sci-Fi Channel, Sopranos, Deadwood, Rome, Robot-Chicken, The Big Bang Theory, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report are two of my favorite shows. I've recently gotten hooked on NCIS and Psych too. Send me an IM!
  • Books

The Secret (OK, it's a video but educates like a book)

Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

Lead the Field (audio book series by Earl Nightingale which I think won the first Grammy for spoken word recordings)

The Slight Edge by Jeff Olsen

Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand (ok, to be honest, I've started this book a couple times but haven't finished it yet, but I'm workin' on it. guess I need to keep a copy in the bathroom) Send me an IM!
  • Heroes

My Dad, Earl Nightingale, Harland Stonecipher, and the Me I want to Be.

About me:

Hi, my name is Lou Valliere, I was/am/guess always will be a military brat since my Dad was a Marine for 30-yrs. We moved around every few years from base to base until we settled in Orange Park next to Jacksonville, Fl. In my mid-20's I got divorced and moved to metro Los Angeles (Long Beach) for another 20 yrs. Remarried, started a family and moved back to NE Fla in 2000 to take care of my Mom after my Dad passed.

I'm happily married for 20plus years with a great wife and three awesome adult kids, two beautiful granddaughters and a our first grandson just arrived on April 15th. (BTW, 20plus means I know it's over 20 but can't remember exactly without doing the math each time, please don't tell my wife)

You may be wondering why I would refer to myself as "Your Better Best Friend"? Well, it's based on my personal and business philosophy for some online businesses I run from home, where "We Solve Problems, Your Best Friend Can't". www.YourBetterBestFriend.com. This site shows how we help business owners help solve legal and financial problems they face everyday, and also how to help their employees, customers and family too.

Naturally helping others is very rewarding and if you'd like to see how you too can earn a living helping others, visit me at www.YourBestBestFriend.com

I also collect domain names for business and personal use. Domain names are the new real estate in an ever growing online world so I'm staking my claims now, and you should too. One of my oldest domains 5W.com has had several offers of over $10k, but that's short of the appraised value, so I'm holding on to it. Not a bad investment for around $10 a year.

I've registered 1000's of domain website names for myself and others and like traditional real estate where location is king, each domain name you own is an internet property that is unique and can never be taken from you so long as you are the rightful registered owner.

If you ever want to register a slogan or catch phrase domain name or set up a website that you think might have some personal or marketing potential, drop me a line sometime, it's fun coming up with good marketing domain names, maybe I can help.

Related to the above sideline, I set up personalized domain names for each of my grandkids so I could post their photos and pass their private domains on to them when they're old enough to appreciate them. If you think its hard to get a good email or web address now, think of how much harder it will be for our kids and grandkids when they're old enough to need them. Then it dawned on me that other concerned parents and grandparents may also think it's a good idea to register their kids and grandkids names as something they can pass on later, so I started yet another web business called CherishAndProtect.com . If you register any domain name, you can get a free website and email account too.

I've got a patent for an ergonomic computer accessory called the KB-Pillow that holds your keyboard and mouse comfortably on your lap (I used to be Mr.Ergo-Nomic) that was shown on World News Tonight many years ago when they did a segment on the Invention Convention in Pasadena. I've also designed several others that I didn't patent but wish I had. If you ever went to a weekend computer show in Los Angeles, Anaheim, San Diego, Sacramento or San Francisco in the mid-90's you probably saw me selling my wares.

In addition to my business websites, I set up a joke website for you to post the email jokes we all receive, called www.JokeMailbox.com. Check it out and view or post a joke. I started this project with some jokes I got from Holly, one of my first Myspace friends, that I also went to high school with, but hadn't seen or heard from her in over 30-yrs. Samll world indeed.

I also run an online Mall and Web Portal called Sales-Dept.com with links to almost 400 major online stores, plus it's a one-stop source for all your favorite media like newspapers, magazines, YouTube, Hulu, 100's of games and much much more. Watch the short video that gives you the details and login to customize your own private mall where you can get cash back on every online purchase you make, plus earn cash for all your friends that also shop online in their private mall. I've spent hours on this one website catching up on news, entertainment and games. It's addictive, but in a good way. Check it out and start saving on your holiday shopping today! I did!.

My newest online biz is called Braille-Swear.com, where I make and sell t-shirts that say "Bullshit" in braille. Only the wearer (hopefully you) know that it says Bullshit, so it's kind of fun. You'd be surprised.

I like to think I'm creative, intelligent and funny, and of course good lookin' and modest but my bias may be biased.

Who I'd like to meet:

In general I'd like to meet people that are intelligent and funny since life is too short to waste time on dumb and dull people.

I think a positive attitude is important too, since many times, the way we react to situations is more important than the situation itself. Years ago, I came across a motivational email that made a big difference in my life, so I decided to share a positive message daily with as many people as possible. Most of you will ignore them and that's fine, but if just one of the the titles catches your eye, take a minute to read it. Who knows, it may change your life too. If it does, then pass the message to a friend like I did. And don't assume that just because I share these PMA msgs that I'm some kind of pie-in-the-sky optimist, because I'm not. I have a quick and sick sense of humor that I like sharing and I have good days, bad days, crappy moods and happy moods like everyone else. I just try to take responsibility for my moods whenever I can.

From a personal standpoint, I'm not lookin' for love but I can always use new friends with similar interests. When all is said and done, all we have are memories so you should make as many positive ones that can. I've added chat links all over my profile so if you ever want to talk...click click.
