SUPERMASSIVE QUAzAR BIO:
SUPERMASSIVE QUAzAR (SQ) is literally a one-man musical army led by Dominic Lamarre, who recorded more than 350 songs prior to his 34th birthday. Born and raised in Montreal, he started playing guitar in 1994. His first band, HAPPIER THAN YOU, formed in 1997 and lasted until he built his home studio in 2007. Since then, he has recorded the bulk of his songs, some of which can be found on his first solo album, 2008’s PULzE. The album is a powerful blend of Rock and Pop, with clever lyrics and a strong sense of melody.
His love for music spans many styles and genres, from Pop to Rock to Instrumentals and Orchestral. His influences include Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, The Beatles, Opeth, Queens of the Stone Age, Beethoven, and lesser-known greats like sElf, Akira Yamaoka, and …Trail of Dead. Similar to his varying interests, SQ provides an array of sound, texture, and melodies that create two unique and addictive styles.
First, Dominic Lamarre (Music Publishing) is more pop-oriented with songs like “Stuck In My Head” that provide an amazing example of acoustic sound and catchy melodies, and songs like “Some For You” and “Psycho Girls” which offer pure rock and pop delight. Dominic Lamarre (Music Publishing) is also the core for instrumental songs, including “The Void” and “Zachariel’s Sin.”
Second, SUPERMASSIVE QUAzAR is a band rooted in Rock, with songs that provide a powerful yet melodic vocal lines, catchy guitar hooks, and pounding drums, like “You Look Good In That Dress”, as well as songs like “Getting Directions” and “Crazy” that are downright addictive.
