Born and raised in the high desert of Northern New Mexico, Cahalen David Morrison manifests beauty -- of land, people, art, and love -- through music.
Sweeping from raggy finger picking and twangy bluegrass ballads to traditional New Mexican rancheros, mellow, bluesy lap slide guitar and spirited jazz drumming, Cahalen taps into the entirety of true Americana music.
While living in southern India studying Sitar and tabla, Cahalen's songwriting grew closer to home in appreciation of the Americana roots his father brought him up on, while tastefully weaving in a subtle global quality and perspective, creating a pronounced musical signature.
From punchy political commentaries, to melodic, soul warming serenades, Cahalen's songwriting lies somewhere between ragged and beautiful, local and global, at home and out on the road.
Hailing from the desert south-west, Juan Holladay weaves simple songs for the subtle listener. An ethereal sound that has graced dusty streets in the Sierra Madre of Mexico, impregnated Oxford City Hall in the United Kingdom, and aired on Chinese National Television, finds home among true musical influences, Nick Drake, Ben Harper, and Gillian Welch. Juan's guitar and voice blend well together and settle in with an up-close feel that won Honorable Mention in the John Lennon Song-Writing Contest, and garnered the hard-earned attention of Americana luminary Howe Gelb. A poet from Asheville, North Carolina, Jay Bartell once aptly described Juan Holladay's sound as "a softening of the marrow." And, that still rings true.
