Formed in the hot summer of 2003 by brothers ben and max Ringham and Andrew Roland.
The three had previously been working together for several years composing music for the avante garde performance group Shunt.
3 limited coloured 7” singles followed which were championed by rough trade record shops and several radio one dj’s.
Debut album superthriller 1 came in summer on 2005 it was in rough trade’s album of the year chart no.23.
Lots of major label interest but nothing materialised.
Beck picked up the album whilst in paris and called the band to support him on his european tour summer ‘05.
Superthriller’s first gig ever was to 2500 glaswegians supporting beck.
2005 and 2006 saw superthriller playing many festivals and shows throughout europe developing their theatrical live show incorporating video, costume, arial performance, ham and plenty of other weird arse shit...........
Superthriller often perform and collaborate with hannah ringham, serena bobowski, layla rosa and gemma brockis performers from the shunt collective........
Summer 2006 superthriller release “the blank album” a collection of outtakes, remixes, and new material...............the actual cd is blank, the purchaser receives a code inside their cd and goes to a website and compiles their own album and downloads it to their cd..........an ingenious idea that went down like a pork chop at a jewish wedding...........nobody paid the blindest bit of notice....it is however a rather interesting album...............
The rest of 2006 and 2007 superthriller were trying to finish the hotly awaited superthriller 2 which started turning into a fleetwood mac situation but it appears that it’s moments away from completion.........hooray.
The next album planned is “african stuff and shit” where superthriller plan to rent a recording studio in Lagos, nigeria and record an album in a week collaborating with the various hangers on around the studio.............i personally am very excited about this project..................
