Latest News -We've just fired out a christmas single. Its a song off the forthcoming " About The Sun " album. The songs called " Sad Sack " , have a listen ! If you like Sad Sack you can hear it on KiwiFM 102.2 and vote for it on their weekly top 10 by going to www.kiwifm.co.nz . Superturtle videos will be screening on Stratos TV at 1.30pm December 19th ( 4.30pm in Auckland ) , and some " memories of summer " anecdotal interviews will be airing on KiwiFM over January and February. .Things have been a bit slow since the highly enjoyable August 14th gig as were sorting out a new bass player , but weve come up with a few new songs in the interim. The Valley Town video release dubs have been mailed out for broadcast and can be viewed online in the myspace vid section . Our second album " About The Sun " is completed and will be released early next year ( probably late March ) through Ode Records , though we'd like to fire out another single and video before then. Bio-Superturtle began life as a solo recording project for former Figure 60 and Chainsaw Masochist bass player Darren McShane.The first two demos were playlisted on 95BFM under the name " moonpopper " with both songs getting in the BFM top 10.
An album began to take shape and various musicians became involved on a track by track basis.By the albums completion a stable lineup with an unmistakable "band" chemistry had formed ,and so the name "Superturtle " was adopted .
This first album showcases the formative process of Superturtle with recording sessions fitted in between McShanes "day job ", as engineer and producer at Earwig Studios , an all analogue recording studio in Birkenhead , Auckland , New Zealand.
The album features two videos which can be viewed on this site along with live footage.The single , "All Our Friends" has screened on Juice , C4 , Stratos , Cue , and Triangle and on Air New Zealand flights.
Various tracks have been played on BFM's New Zealand music show , as well as National Radio and Radio Live.The excellent Kiwi FM have been playlisting Superturtle on an ongoing basis, and Free Ride was no 5 in their top 10 , then "Lifes a Dream " made no 6 as of October 28th."Dead Or Alive" made no 7 on January 25th 2009.Valley Town is currently on Kiwi FM's playlist.
The vinyl has finally arrived.Because it took so long were releasing the album with the vinyl.The total package is a 7inch single in a gatefold sleeve with a multi media CD album in a slip.The CD contains 10 songs , 2 music videos , and a printable CD cover , photo gallery and lyrics.The release date is looking at being late July , review and radio copies will be sent out in 2 weeks when the CD's are pressed.
