Latest News - Superturtle are playing a live instore at Powertools Records awesome shop " Alien " on saturday afternoon , July 11th. It starts with a performance by John Andrew Fredrick from " The Black Watch " at 2.30pm , then were on at 3.15pm.John's music has been descibed as " LA crafted alt-rock drenched in British indie grooves" .Alien's at 11 Veronica St , New Lynn , Auckland.
A new single featuring " Valley Town " , " Dead Or Alive " and " About The Sun "will be released with two videos on August 14th at The Wine Cellar and The Whammy Bar.

The album's launch was celebrated on August 22nd , 2008 at The Dogs Bollix , with guests Chris Knox and The Nothing ,and Salonkingsadore , a great show that heralded Superturtle's first public performance.
Superturtle began life as a solo recording project for former Figure 60 and Chainsaw Masochist bass player Darren McShane.The first two demos were playlisted on 95BFM under the name " moonpopper " with both songs getting in the BFM top 10.
An album began to take shape and various musicians became involved on a track by track basis.By the albums completion a stable lineup with an unmistakable "band" chemistry had formed ,and so the name "Superturtle " was adopted .
This first album showcases the formative process of Superturtle with recording sessions fitted in between McShanes "day job ", as engineer and producer at Earwig Studios , an all analogue recording studio in Birkenhead , Auckland , New Zealand.
The album features two videos which can be viewed on this site along with live footage.The single , "All Our Friends" has screened on Juice , C4 , Stratos , Cue , and Triangle and on Air New Zealand flights.
Various tracks have been played on BFM's New Zealand music show , as well as National Radio and Radio Live.The excellent Kiwi FM have been playlisting Superturtle on an ongoing basis, and Free Ride was no 5 in their top 10 , then "Lifes a Dream " made no 6 as of October 28th."Dead Or Alive" made no 7 on January 25th 2009." About The Sun" is now playlisted on Kiwi.
The bands second album , " About The Sun " has been tracked and is now 8 songs into the mixdown process.
A video for "Dead or Alive" has been shot on Super 8 , and another video for " Valley Town" was shot the first week of April by Arishana productions ( www.myspace.com/arishanainc ) , and this is now being edited. We are particularly excited about the Valley Town video as there were some fantastic costumes and locations. The videos wiill accompany a single release.
The band has recently played shows in Auckland and Hamilton , and thanks go out to " The Septembers "and " Dynamo Go " for a great gig in Hamilton on March 14th , and thanks also to Billy Squire and The Rye , The Jeremy Eade Experience , Salonkingsadore and Goon for a great show at The Wine Cellar and Whammy Bar March 27th , and especially thanks to the punters for the great vibe.
A second album is now near completion , and the next gig will be a single release of " Valley Town " once the video is completed.
The vinyl has finally arrived.Because it took so long were releasing the album with the vinyl.The total package is a 7inch single in a gatefold sleeve with a multi media CD album in a slip.The CD contains 10 songs , 2 music videos , and a printable CD cover , photo gallery and lyrics.The release date is looking at being late July , review and radio copies will be sent out in 2 weeks when the CD's are pressed.
