Superunloader

SUPERUNLOADER is the original rock trio from San Diego, Calif., led by JIMMY LEWIS’ formidable songwriting, versatile singing and brilliant guitar work. LEWIS was joined by drummer CHAD FARRAN and bassist CHRIS MCGREAL in 1994, and the hard-hitting rhythm section backing LEWIS quickly became a favorite in musicians' circles.

Fans and critics have followed suit. Timeless, iconic comparisons with Zeppelin, Hendrix, and Free are both deserved and misleading for SUPERUNLOADER, who have never been a retro, classic rock throwback. Their postmodern mix of primal roots and progressive aesthetics actually has more in common with the likes of Primus, The Mars Volta, Audioslave or White Stripes.

And while the band's penchant for cathartic, improvisational jamming, a lá Phish, makes them a favorite of jam band fans, it's also their enigmatic, charismatic live sound that sets the SUPERUNLOADER experience so uniquely apart. That originality has led to sharing stages with the likes of Bob Dylan, Carlos Santana, Gregg Allman, Fishbone, Les Claypool and many others over the years.

SUPERUNLOADER released four discs on their own imprint (Superunloader reCorDs), winning two SAN DIEGO MUSIC AWARDS for "Best Rock Album” (1994’s self-titled debut, and the ..Live & Unfashionable.. disc in ’99). Their latest release was the casually brilliant and “stripped” performance called ..Live & Small (at Lestat's).. in 2007. The new studio tracks will be the band’s first since 1997’s ..Goes #2...
