About me: The 7th of February, a date which will be driven into the hearts of many, a flame was struck. Australia's recent heat wave had caused all of Victoria's bushes to be extremely dry, a slight change was predicted with heavy winds. Firefighters everywhere predicted the worst, every single volunteer was on call, it was far, far more horrible than anyone of us would have guessed.
As of the 12th of February, 181 have been confirmed dead, with the toll being estimated at reaching 300. 1200 homes have been burnt down and 400,000 hectares have been burnt, or 4,000,000,000 square meters of land. It's the worst disaster in Australian history to both mankind and our ecosystem.
Supporting Survival with Tunes is about helping those in need. Those fellow human beings, fellow Australians, who have been placed in a dire situation, it's about showing our Australian spirit. So far lots of people have been showing interest, our wish is to hold a fundraiser for the victims of the Victorian Bushfires of 09.
Our plan to do this is to hold a music festival, or a "gig," so far many Adelaide bands have shown interest in this, all the proceeds of the event will go to the victims of the bush fires. We are currently contacting the media and different venues to help support this fundraiser.
