Interests

  • General

I like to travel. I love NYC. I've always wanted to go to St. Croix, the Virgin Islands. I've been up to it and and all around it, but never there (yet). I stay home a lot. I sing, but don't dance. I don't know how to work out. I have a few real friends and know a lot of people. My personal life leaves much to be desired, but being alone doesn't necessarily mean being lonely. I have no trouble at all meeting MEN, but good men are hard to find, and a HARD man is always good to find. For me, generally, they have to be black, or latino or a mixture thereof. After 6 failed relationships (so far) I guess I'm still looking.
  • Music

I collect music, especially cds. I have well over 10,000 cds in my collection. I love the music of Motown, Stax, Philly. I love female singers best, but there are some males who get my attention like Ray Parker Jr.,Luther Vandross, and Tyrone Davis. The late, great Philippe Wynne (of the Spinners) was an influence as was the gospel music of James Cleveland. I love all types of music (r&b, pop, soul, blues, country, hip-hop, some rap, etc)and I would love to hear from anyone else out there that loves music.
  • Movies

My favorite movie is The Color Purple. I can do all the lines. I also love Enough with Jennifer Lopez, and Dreamgirls, as well as The Secret Lives of Bees. The Betty Broderick Story (a tv movie) is also one of my favorites.
  • Television

Golden Girls, Charlie's Angels (especially Season 4, w/Shellye Hack), Bewitched, CSI: Miami (love Adam Rodrigues), CHiPS (love Erik Estrada), Young & The Restless, Bold & Beautiful, and As The World Turns (soaps).
  • Books

Dreamgirl: My Life As A Supreme, by Mary Wilson Supreme Faith: Someday We'll Be Together, by Mary Wilson Soulful Divas, by David Nathan, DREAMBOY: My Life As a QVC Host & Other Greatest Hits, by Dale Guy Madison (2009).
  • Heroes

My hero is President Barak O'Bama. Our very first African-American president. I never thought I'd see it in my lifetime and I think of so many others who lived once and didn't get to see it. For him, I am thankful.

About me:

I was born January 10, 1966 in New Albany, MS. I grew up in MS, graduated from Lafayette High School in 1984. Both of my parents sang in church (Baptist). After a stint in the U.S. Navy, I made my way first to Chicago, IL and then on to California, where I attended American River College and graduated from Sacramento State University with a degree in Journalism. I worked in San Francisco at Rainbow Ventures Publishing, Inc., as a Managing Editor for many years, before recording my first solo album in 1995 with DEEP INSIDE MY SOUL.

Who I'd like to meet:

Some Of the Music people who inspire me are The Supremes, Bettye Lavette, Gloria Loring, and Michael McDonald.I'm happy to say that I've met them all. I would still like to meet Aretha Franklin and President Barak O'Bama.
