Fight the “Horrorwitz” Polluting Warehouse on the SCF Land
If you had been led to believe that there was nothing you could do would you quit?
Five years ago, on September 2003, they told us that there was nothing we could do to stop the destruction of the farm. Council person Tony Cardenas came and got a tour of the South Central Farm. He exclaimed that he too was the son of immigrant parents who had come to the U.S. for a better life, but at the end of his tour he told us that, “it was a done deal”. There was nothing that we could do.
In the preceding three years, we organized with the farmers and the community and were able to involve the Trust for Public Land and the Annenberg Foundation and raised 16.3 Million dollars to save the farm. This was an unheard accomplishment by many community activists’ standards.
The movement that formed to save the farm has remained a cohesive collective extended family and continues to improve the “quality of life” for all residents in the city of Los Angeles . From fighting the Minute-Men to shutting down the port to feeding the homeless and distributing food to those in need, to raising the voice of the voiceless on May-day, these are the values the farm movement shares.
This is a feat that is accomplished because people like you chose to do something about it. People contributed to make that fact a reality.
We are calling on you again. If you felt that you could have done something to save the farm, and opted not to do something this time don’t be left out. Maybe you did not know that your singular voice really mattered? It does, when it resonates with the voices of others in our community who genuinely care about the well-being of others.
Become part of this movement that cares about human beings regardless of class, privilege, and economic status. Join us in the “reciprocity of being”.
What can you do?
1. Help us by encouraging Attorney General Jerry Brown by doing an ethic investigation of LA City Officials involved in the “pay to play” development deals. Click on this link.
2. Join us Monday, TBA, 2009, at 7:00pm at the SCF Centro for an organizing meeting to continue boycotting Forever 21, demanding Justice from the City of Los Angeles, and demanding the restoration of the SCF Farm.

3. Contact Los Angeles City Officials (links at top of page) and tell them how important it is that the community acquire the land on 41st and Alameda for a place to grow healthy, organic food, a green space where their children can play instead of a polluting, low wage, non-union warehouse. The link to the LA City Council is provided at the top of this page.

5. Let other groups and organizations know about the South Central Farm. Direct them to this page or to the official South Central Farmers Website.The Community and the South Central Farm deserve Justice! Do what you can to help.
6. Boycott Forever 21! Tell your friends to shop at alternative clothing stores until the investigation of the Los Angeles Mayor, Forever 21 and the sale of the old South Central Farm Land is completed. NEVER FOREVER 21!
