Surface Rising speaks for itself, we're not going to categorize our music or set boundaries. We're going to rise above labels and specific styles.
It's all rock music, but at the same time a perfect mix of metal, classic rock, harmony guitars with melody and intensity. Surface Rising has an optimistic view on pessimism, and is sometimes dark but always in the light.
We let the music come from us without being influenced by others.
Surface Rising will always be elevating to make more intricate music with more feelings and emotions. The attitude, edge and passion will always be further unleashed.
The truth we find and eager eyes will open up, and we will rise ...
SR HISTORY
The Story So Far:
The four members of Surface Rising create a matchless sonic assault of intense, menacing yet melodic rock. The band has created a unique style of hard rock that stomps on the boring rhyming couplet clones and has wider appeal than underground hardcore acts.
Surface Rising is : front-man Jesse, drummer Gabe, bassist Fatty, and guitarist Ryan. Together, they have recorded their first full length CD, Bleed Life.
Assisting them in the studio were Producer / Engineer Shawn Grove (Collective Soul), Producer / Engineer Bill Appleberry (Wallflowers, Adema), Engineer David Shiffman (System of a Down, Audioslave) and Producer/ Mixer Ron St. Germain (Tool, Creed).
Surface Rising's sound envelopes melodic heavy to raging vocals, rock solid musicianship and unpredictable change-ups. Jessie's singing is astounding in its versatility . From Pavement, with its screamo-to -nasally style to the gentler approach on the balladic City Lights to the more straight-ahead melodicism of Resonance.
The roots of the band began in 2003 when New York born brothers, Gabe and Fatty along with childhood musician friends uprooted from Atlanta and moved to Hollywood. At the same time a determined young singer, Jesse, was fronting a couple of indie bands in Thunder Bay, Canada.
Quickly realizing that the singer was not up to snuff, the brothers began casting around for a replacement. As fate would have it, Jesse's sister had connections with the management company and Jesse, taking a large chance, jumped on the next plane heading southwest.
As Gabe remembers, "As soon as we heard Jesse sing we knew we had found our lead vocalist and he joined us on the spot. "
After stirring things up in LA and demoing material in Atlanta the band headed to Canada to rehearse and write material, Through Jesse, Ryan from his old band Grind, was brought in on guitar and back up vocals. This upped the band's Canadian content and six string attack.
With the final line-up complete, the band feverishly began to hone their sound and it became significantly more intense. Ultimately Jesse's vocals, from super melodic to all out wails, put the inimitable stamp on the material that would yield Bleed Life.
The band, now currently based in Atlanta, Ga, has already shared the stage with many great bands such as Theory of a Deadman, Thornley and Apocalyptica.
Stay Tuned.
