  • Mammoth Mountain Hosts Surfrider Foundation Weekend: Surfrider Members Ski & Ride For Only $69

    PRESS RELEASE

The Surfrider Foundation announced that it has partnered with Mammoth Mountain Ski Area to host a special member appreciation weekend. From Friday, April 8th through Sunday, April 10th, Mammoth Mountain will offer a 25% discount on daily lift tickets to every adult skier or boarder who presents a valid Surfrider Foundation membership card.

"We are thrilled to be partnering with Mammoth Mountain in helping to say 'Thank you!' to our valued members," says Matt McClain, Surfrider Foundation's Director of Marketing and Communications.

With over 400+ inches of snowfall to date, Mammoth Mountain is experiencing one of the best seasons in the resort's history. In addition to providing a thrilling playground for skiers and snowboarders, the Eastern Sierra is one of the principle water sources for Southern California.

"A lot of the same snow that we ski and ride on during the winter, eventually makes its way into the ocean we surf in during the spring and summer," says McClain.

In effort to support our coastal environments Mammoth Mountain is also donating $5 for every Surfrider Foundation ticket sold back to the Foundation.

"The Surfrider Foundation is an outstanding organization doing important work," says Mark Clausen, Chief Financial Officer for Mammoth Mountain. "Hopefully this event will inspire even more people to join in the effort to protect our oceans and beaches."

  • Help me become a Top Iron Surfer!

Greetings Surfrider Foundation members and supporters!    My name is Nancy Hastings, and I am the Southern CA Field Coordinator for the Surfrider Foundation.    My job is to help provide all of the volunteers in Southern California with training, support, and resources needed to accomplish Surfrider Foundation's mission...  the protection and enjoyment of the world's oceans, waves and beaches for all people, through conservation, activism, research and education.

In 1995 I attended my very first Surfrider Foundation meeting in Malibu, and wouldn't you know...  the Chapter Chair quit that night!   I agreed to take over that position, and drove home wondering what I had just gotten myself into!    Happy to report that 15 years of volunteering later... and 7 years as paid full time staff managing the Chapters in Southern California, being a part of Surfrider Foundation has been an incredibly rewarding experience.

Now I am asking for your support to help me become the TOP IRON SURFER, by recruiting the most new members for Surfrider Foundation between now and the end of October, 2010.   Please click on the Iron Surfer image below and JOIN SURFRIDER today!

We've been working super hard to fight for clean water, clean beaches, and safe open access to the beach since 1984.   We have reduced the discharge from the Tapia Wastewater Facility into Malibu Creek, we stopped the TCA from building a massive tollroad near Trestles, we have fought and stopped countless seawalls in San Diego County, smoking is now prohibited on all of LA County Beaches, and we're currently working hard to raise awareness on the need to reduce single use plastics (bags, bottles) to reduce plastic pollution on our beaches and in the ocean.

Thanks so much for joining Surfrider today!
