Welcome! Ginger Gillenwater is the name and I guess you would call this my writing page since I am dedicating this to my writing. One thing in particular that's going to be the focus here on 'my space' is my book 'Surviving Jane' which will be coming out in 2007, possibly sooner. I'll have the details on the release date as soon as all the technicalities are worked out.
Here's a little about how I got into writing:
**I always liked to write stories, so when I was in the third grade I entered a story contest that won me first place and a set of theme park tickets that I never used.
**In 1994 at 14, I had a short story published in the October edition of Disney Adventures magazine in which I could've cared less that I was published because I was trying to win an IBM desktop computer. LOL
**In 1998, I was assigned a position on the school newspaper staff, 'The Source.'
**In 2000, I managed to have poems published in three different publications.
**In 2001, Several of my inspirational poems were chosen to be used on a canadian website for a non-profit organization.
**Also in 2001, I began writing for U.S. Legacies magazine on a regular basis. U.S. Legacies also had me working as a freelance writer specializing in ghostwriting.
**In 2002, I began various freelance writing jobs in grant writing, copywriting, content writing, and technical writing. I volunteered my services to a grassroots organization working on educating South Americans tribes. I helped this organization develop grant proposals and informational packets containing brochures, flyers, and booklets.
**Also in 2002, I wrote grant proposals for an animal shelter and for a small business owner seeking a business grant for minorities. I also had poetry published in the Ohio Bicentennial magazine.
**In 2003, I continued my freelance efforts and my writing could be found in publications .. and in print in the form of product reviews, poems, and short stories.
**In 2004, I became a regular contributor to Wordsworth magazine, in which I wrote articles about writing. That year, I also completed a full length screenplay.
**In 2005, I assisted a couple of clients who wished to convert their ideas into screenplays. I also did web content writing for a number of websites, in which I had to push out around 5o articles per week. I also did some content writing for an adult website, so yes, I am pretty diverse.
**1999-2006, are the years I worked on 'Surviving Jane.' It is based on a true story, so the content has been difficult to compile.
Seems like there's other stuff I'm forgetting here. This is all I could remember off the top of my head.

I would love to meet Jane, the main character from my book.
Although based on a true story, the book is fictional. The characters are fictional and a few things have been thrown around to make it fictional. It's a liability thing.
Anyway, Jane is an old woman who is telling the story of her own life. She starts from the day she was born, working her way through her seventy-six years of life. Now, what makes this interesting is that Jane was born in the year 1980, which is the year I was born, and she is sitting there seventy-six years later telling her story. No, there is no sci-fi stuff in this book. I felt it would be easier for my own generation to relate to this book if it were told in the time in which many of us grew up. Even older folks could identify with the timeline better because of some references throughout the book.
So anyhow, she tells her story of various types of abuse, bouts with suicide, life with her mother, her parent's divorce, several interesting encounters (Hint hint), and so much more. Her life is tumultuous with some surprises. Nothing like an elderly woman talking about sex, right? Well, it'll make you feel angry, sad, some moments are touching, others will make you laugh hysterically. You'll just have to read it when it comes out.
