I played seven years of trumpet, trombone and euphonium at Petoskey public schools. When I was sixteen, I started playing harmonica. I worked at the City Park Grill in Petoskey, and the Larry Garner Blues Band was playing there that night, and Larry asked me to sit in after hearing me play in the parking lot. That was a turning point in my life. Now my instruments of choice are the fiddle and Venezuelan cuatro, but I pick up a mandolin from time to time. My last band was Combo Sanfona, and Ann Arbor-based klezmer octet. I enjoy playing traditional music, particularly waltzes and jigs.

Hey lady: I say in the local paper that a bunch of your band friends are playing the Pick-a-thon out here in Portland! Yeah! I'm bummed I won't be here for it...since I will be moving back to good ole' Northern MI this summer. Hope all is well and spring is springing there like it is here.
