Television
I do not watch TV. I have one local channel, an ABC affiliate, and I just don't watch it. When I have the opportunity to watch TV I am reminded why I don't watch and that I don't miss it.
Books
Bible, books related to Bible studies (commentaries, devotionals, in-depth study resources, etc.), apologetics. I read mostly non-fiction and some of what I've read recently or am reading now is: The Jesus Creed, The God I Love, Irrepressible Hope, Kingdom Ethics, The Weeping Chamber, Experiencing God, Experiencing the Heart of Jesus, Jesus the One and Only, Believing God, Getting Marriage Right, Purpose Driven Life, Reaching for Invisible God.
Heroes
I don't really have "heroes", but I do have some mentors in my life. I have the most wonderful and loving parents a person could be blessed with. I would love to have the wisdom and patience of my mother and the compassion of my father. He once said when asked how he wanted to be remembered after he dies "I just want my family to know I loved them". He has never let us think otherwise.
I have a few spiritual mentors as well. These are people who have been influential in my walk with Christ. My parents, of course, who first introduced me to the ways and mysteries of God. Then, after having left church as an adult, I was re-introduced to the person of Christ, after 15 years, by my friend Deb. She was the catalyst for my conversion. Then my friend Irma who continued watering the seeds that Deb had planted and eventually saw harvest.
The most influential person in my walk with Christ is my mentor Noni. Noni mentored me and taught me the ways of the Lord with such patience and kindness and encouragement. All of these ladies are so important to me, and they will probably never even know!
Today my mentors would include Tommye, who is a great counselor, and Karen who's maturity in the Word and the sensitivity that she has to the Spirit inspires me. Karen's husband Walt is also a mentor because he is such a knowledgeable teacher whose heart is always on God and focused on sharing Him with others. Also, my best friend Katie who is my accountability partner and who always helps me to keep my focus on others and on God, even when I try to rebel.
My only true hero would be the person of Jesus Christ.

YOU are stinkin' hilarious! But the thing is, you don't MEAN to be. You just are. It's a gift. And that thing with your eyes, that must be a gift, too, because I can't do it either. I LOVE the Walton's. I grew up watching them and cherish them in my heart. I cried when the set burned down a few years back. As far as the recipe is concerned, the Baldwin sisters never shared the actual recipe with anyone, so I never got to taste the deliciousness in the still, uh, I mean where ever it was they made it. I would probably hate it. Especially if it tastes anything like Nyquil . . .
