The Berlin born Parisian jazz singer Susanna Bartilla is a life long fan of lyricist Johnny Mercer. As a tribute to his centennial, she has compiled a programm of his most beautiful songs and is devoting the whole of 2009 to spreading the word in French, German and British clubs and jazz festivals.

6 of the tunes are featured here, recorded in Paris, with Claude Mouton (bass), Joël Bouquet (piano), Sean Gourley (guitar), Pascal Gaubert (sax) and Thierry Tardieu (drums).
"My Shining Hour" was recorded live on 28 June at the Sunside Jazz Club with Alain Jean-Marie on piano, Sean Gourley on guitar and Claude Mouton on double bass.

susanna .... i'm glad to hear you'd love to do the duets with me. i'm going to see if i can arrange to fly over to hear your band live. somewhere around your sept. or oct. gig in Paris. btw, that's a fabulous rendition of "i remember you." you have a very lovely sound honey. but, you should do (sing) the verse to that song. and, you're quite correct; our voices do work great together ..... duets would be a show stopper.
