Favorites I saw recently -- "Into the Wild," "The Darjeeling Limited," "The Departed," "49 Up" (a great series that checks in on a group of kids starting at age 7, every 7 years), "Mr. Brooks" (I have a hopeless thing for Kevin Costner!), "Perfume: The Story of a Murderer."
Some all-time favorites: Children of a Lesser God, Out of Africa, Body Heat, Amadeus, Under the Tuscan Sun, The Last Waltz, Chicago, Annie Hall, Dances with Wolves, Sirens, Bull Durham .

Good books recently read -- "Call Me By Your Name" - a coming of age memoir by Andre Aciman; "Twenty-Eight Artists and Two Sanits" essays by Joan Acocella; "Giving" on audio read by Bill Clinton; "The Kite Runner" on audio read by the author; and the annual "Best of" series -- in particular this year the "Best American Travel Writing" edited by Susan Orlean.
