Check out the new blog with Susie’s CD review in Maverick Magazine (U.K.)!!!
* “A diverse collection, Susie’s songs are well-crafted tales of heart and soul; relationship issues treated with candid honesty.”
* “The album’s highlight…is Shake Russell’s gorgeous “Deep in the West.”
* “From sweet and ethereal to rich and seductive, Susie’s voice makes that emotional connection to the listener that is quite irresistible.”
Maverick Magazine (U.K), February 2008 issue

"Susie Warley brings legends to life in a style as gentle as the petals of an orchid. With influences like Stevie Nicks and Carly Simon, Warley’s sound emulates all the great American singer-songwriters of the past, but with a little bit of edge that sounds like a female Kenny Rogers."
"Every song on the album “Kalypso” is a tale that could be a minute long or 100 years old. Her soothing voice, easy progressions, and diverse themes all combine for an album that is as epic, tranceful, and fulfilling as Homer’s Odyssey."
Carson Barker, Highland Lakes Newspapers

Biography
Susie’s album, Kalypso, is a diverse collection of songs that beautifully showcase her unique vocal style and song-writing ability. Best described as “world folk,” Susie’s music is a fusion of genres that embrace folk, pop-rock, and country. Her original compositions are deeply personal, boldly imaginative, and disturbingly provocative. Delving into the realms of love, fantasy, erotica, and mysticism, Susie breathes passion and beauty into each of her songs. The versatility of her vocal style allows her to sing like an angel—or a seductress. From sweet and ethereal to rich and emotive, the euphonic tenor of Susie’s voice is sure to please the ear and pull on the heartstrings.
In performance, Susie’s repertoire includes original songs, along with obscure and popular cover songs. She has performed in venues across Texas, New Mexico, Vermont, New Hampshire, and New York.
Originally from New Hampshire, Susie moved to Texas in 1984 and now resides in Horseshoe Bay with her husband, Gene, and their two sons. Her singing career began at the age of 7 in church and school choirs. When 12, she received a Yamaha guitar from a pawn shop and, after learning the basics, accompanied herself in a talent show. A year later, her father built a Heathkit organ and she enrolled in lessons. During her childhood, she emulated pop/folk legends Carly Simon, Stevie Nicks, Carol King, Olivia Newton-John, and Emmylou Harris. She later became enamored with the music of Texas singer-songwriter Shake Russell, who has been her mentor and is a guest artist on her CD.
A Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Texas-San Antonio, Susie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree at the Bread Loaf School of English in Middlebury, Vermont. She also writes poetry and is working on a novel. A former marathon runner, Susie continues to make running an integral part of her daily routine.
