Influences
Every single thing that I have experienced - has influenced my music in some way. My mother and her eleven brothers & sisters had a family band - I learned from them how to make the sounds in my head become a musical reality. Rock & Roll of every sort - certainly played a huge roll in my development as did Country & Folk music.
'Stella' is Stella Suzette Weakley. I am 'Stella' of Stella & Jane and wear many hats musically. 'Stella & Jane' is me and Bobbie 'Jane' Lancaster. These days we perform with none other than Jeff Foster www.JeffFoster.com, and perform around the Midwest fairly frequently - performing at festivals, Concert Halls and various other venues. I am an organizer for the Bloomington Songwriter Showcase (www.MySpace.com/BloomingtonSongwriterShowcase) and also perform as a solo artist and with different Songwriters I've met through the Showcase as 'Stella & Friends'. My latest venture is with community/public radio station here in Bloomington IN (WFHB - 91.3 FM locally and online at www.WFHB.org for online listening). I have recently been elected as a member of the Board of Directors for that organization and I am also cast member of 'The Firehouse Players' a live radio theater group affiliated with WFHB.
At this time, I am also producing and promoting a concert at the beautiful, historic Buskirk Chumley Theater (located downtown in Bloomington IN) with the support of the City of Bloomington Indiana. I have named the program 'Blooming-Tunes / Songs from the Heartland'. That show is scheduled for October 17, 2009. In conjunction with the Blooming-Tunes concert, I ran a song contest and there will be a compilation CD of the top songs - released in conjunction with the Blooming-Tunes concert.
