I grew up in the New England area (Everett, Saugus, Melrose,Medford, Brighton) . I left in 76 and for about 6 years lived in New York. Went back to Boston in 82 and stayed for another 10 years. Those were great years-Boston in the 80s. I worked at the Paradise/Stitches-best clubs in town and I sung with bunches of bands and on various projects over the years: Social Butterflies, One Fish Two Fish, the Swinging Erudites, The Twigs (my intro to country music!). Left Boston again in 91 and started moving around out west. Lived in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Reno singing anywhere/anytime I could and finally got to Nashville in 98. I was singing at Nashville Cowboy Church and with the Byrd Brothers (top 40) and a band called Thunder Road, and along the way, I trashed my voice. Thanks to Vanderbilt Voice Clinic and Ron Browning-voice teacher, I was able to recover-but only to a point. I was getting very frustrated not being able to sing like I used to and had to do something creative. About 2 years ago I decided that I would finally take those drum lessons I had wanted to take since I was 12. DAMN!!! I wish I had done this years ago. I LOVE drums, I LOVE playing drums, I am hooked. Still a newbie at it I've been playing in a traditional country band, Southern Sons featuring Larry Felix, and just learning everything I can. My teacher moved away about a year ago and I''m looking for another one now in the northeast Nashville area. This is what I should have been doing all my life. I love watching pro drummers make it look so easy and hope that even though I'm older (shit-forty freakin six) I hope I can play for a long time & still rock (that's what I really like playing) when I'm 90!
I'm very happily married to a tv engineer who builds/drives racecars, plays guitar and is learning how to play steel guitar (now that's a hard instrument to play!!)& we're diehard Bobby Labonte fans.
Who I'd like to meet: Morons, freaks, geeks, losers. I need some entertainment.
Actually, I'd love to meet other female drummers for some inspiration.
Some people are like a Slinky. Not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you shove them down the stairs.
