With awards from Parents' Choice, the Children's Music Web, iParenting Media and a 2007 Gold Award from the National Parenting Publications, Suzi is gaining national critical acclaim as well as a loyal following in her home base of New York City. Suzi is also the host of Gymboree Play & Music DVDs award winning "The Very Brave Elephant and His Friends" and "Let's Get Moving! Trains, Cars and Planes." "The Gymboree DVDs are musical-based, so kids are not just sitting in front of the TV. They are imitating animals or locomotion while they watch. It's the same goal with my performances - to have parents and kids feel comfortable enough to make them get up and sing and dance." Suzi Says: I grew up in Chesterland, Ohio where I was a dancer and a preschool teacher. After moving to New York City, I began singing in a children's band, called Imagination Workshop Band, which along with teaching dance, became a wonderful combination of creativity and fun. Through the years, I have come to realize that I am the happiest when surrounded by kids singing and dancing along with me, so that is what i continue to do. I love my job and feel very grateful that I am able to have so much fun when I am "working"! I also love to write songs and am constantly inspired by my husband, Dave, and my two children, ages 12 and 6. Who is the band? I am usually accompanied by a very talented and wonderful group including my guitarist, bassist and drummer. I have also recently added a horn section for very special occasions. Quite often my backup singer and 6 year old daughter joins in as well. She will sometimes have some enthusiastic backup singers "The Gumdrops" join in with her to really get the kids up and dancing. My son now plays violin, and if you are lucky, you can hear him playing live along with me and the band. Then you know it's a party! Where have we performed? We have performed at such wonderful NYC venues as The Lincoln Center Tree Lighting Ceremony, Symphony Space, 92Y Tribeca, The Knitting Factory, The Bell House, Southpaw, Madison Square Park, Union Square Park, Battery Park City, Tribeca Film Festival, The Jewish Museum, and The Brooklyn Children's Museum to name a few. We have also traveled outside of the city and have performed at The White House Easter Egg Roll, The Portland Children's Museum, Bethlehem Musikfest and The Banana Factory in PA, Cain Park and The Grog Shop in Cleveland, OH, Off Broadway in St. Louis, Sub T in Chicago, and the KidsBeet Concert Series in Boston, MA. The elves that play in the toasters wash their drum sticks in honey and sing strikingly colored anthems in perfect harmonious pleasure. Your wonderfully bright soul keep the demons from torturing me.
