Japaneses singer/guitar player Suzuki Junzo (Astral Travelling Unity, 20 Guilders, Overhang Party, Miminokoto) weaves an improvised country blues/folk music with touches of acid and psych. While performing and recording mostly as a solo artist, he has collaborated with Hiroshi Hasegawa, Tabata Mitsuru and Kawabata Makoto. Pieces for Hidden Circles is a recording of the highest order evoking spirituality and devotion unrivaled. A campaign to a world of solitude, each footfall and gust of wind resonating to the heavens.

that features Junzo on electric guitar front and centre. The 26 minute live session tends to mine the blues territory with Junzo providing slabs of some really trodden vocals [all in Japanese]. When he turns intensity down a few notches as he does on the second track, the music takes on a pensive character. The chords are intricate, delicate and even come with a tinge of the lovely. When he wails, he wails with pain and when he strums the strings, you can feel his heart beating loudly on his sleeve. For honesty alone, he gets top marks for this album. Here's hoping there'll be many more to come in the future. - Tom Sekowski

Beautiful deep-space hymns to free-falling oblivion from Hiroshi Hasegawa (CCCC et al) on synthesizer and tambura machine and electric guitarist Suzuki Junko. Junko's guitar adds some particularly elegiac acid moves to this gorgeous set, with huge blooms of reverb, the sound of pulsing analog starfields reduced to tiny smudges of light, stinging acid guitar and gorgeous harmonic arcs of drone aligning it with earlier investigations of endless psychedelic madrigal like Nijiumu's Era Of Sad Wings and Makoto Kawabata's Inui project. Also features Iwao Yamazaki on percussion. The second track title, "Galactic Joy", just about sums it up with a blast of overdriven Haino-esque guitar ridden to oblivion. Comes packaged in a slim-line DVD-style case with colour artwork. The best Astro set to date and highly recommended.
