Jørgen Dickmeiss – fiddle, mandolin, guitar, vocal. Born 1971. Studied the fiddle four years at the Carl Nielsen Academy of Music in Odense in the Danish folkmusic-department. Besides Svøbsk, he plays in the folk fusion rock band Tumult.

Influences
We find our inspiration from the music of the traditional folk musicians and minstrels (past and present) - mainly scandinavian - and from our own musical universe, which is influenced by a great interest in folk music in general. We see ourselves as part of the chain of tradition, with an obligation and strong urge to pass it on.

Svøbsk is the name of a melodi - and dancetype, where you turn ’round and ‘round in a close embrace until you get all ... “svøbsked”.

Svøbsk is also the name of a danish folkmusic trio that play densely well together, complementing each other in a sublime way. The music is a mixture of traditional and contemporary folkmusic, brilliantly performed with a playful lightness and plenty of soul.

Svøbsk have been playing in Greenland, Finland, Iceland, Germany and all over Denmark. In June 2005 came the much acclaimed CD debut “Sig mig” (tell me), which was nominated for the Music Awards “debut of the year”.

Maren and Jørgen have been living and playing together since they've met each other at the Carl Nielsen Academy of Music in Odense in 20002, where they both studied Danish folk music. They have been playing many concerts in and outside Denmark (Greenland, Iceland, Finland, Germany and Poland) and in June 2005 they released their first – very well-reciewed cd “Sig mig” (nominated a Danish music award; the debut of the year). In January 2007 Tira Skamby and all of her percussion joined the band - with caused remarcable change of the sound.

(Og tusind tak for det) Jeg mødte tilfældigvis Gitte, som du også underviser, og det er gået op for mig hvor meget jeg egentlig savner at spille og hele fællesskabet bag! Hei SVØBSK! (hva betyr egentlig det?)
En bedre introduksjon til dansk folkemusikk skal man lete lenge etter! (...jeg visste ikke engang at danskene hadde noen folkemusikk, så der ser man). Likte særlig The Burning Waltz - fin kontrast mellom mandolinen og accordionet i begynnelsen, og godt spilt også!
