Jason Allwood's 'Swampdog Pedal Pick of the Month' for July is the Danelectro FAB Chorus. Probably as good as any Chorus pedal I've ever heard by BOSS, DOD, as well as some 'Boutique pedals' I've heard. This series of Danelectro pedals ISN'T True Bypass, but it is VERY quiet, and it conjures up any tone from a Leslie to a Univibe to a Def Leppard cover band tone (80s baby! They're back and more popular than ever.). Best of all, my final pitch for this thing, the reason you HAVE to buy one......it sells for $20 new. Did I mention the LED is Blue?

Jason Allwood's 'Swamp Dog Pedal Pick of the Month' for June is the MXR Blue Box. My oldest son calls it the 'Nintendo Pedal'. It seems to convert your guitar signal into 8-bit insanity land. Lower octave effect is extremely cool. If you're not familiar with this pedal, think: Jimmy Page, "Fool in the Rain" guitar solo off of IN THROUGH THE OUT DOOR. Imagine you're playing a video game circa 1987, and you're trying to rescue the princess (insert random game title here) in the castle; click the pedal on, and play the theme song. Think like a video game music designer, Think: racing game, fighting game, fighter jet game, this pedal will really help you unlock some ideas you never would have came up with otherwise. Very cool, inexpensive, quiet pedal. Russ has 'em, they're $70 and extremely fun.

Jason Allwood's 'Swamp Dog Pedal Pick of the Month' for May is the Electro Hasrmonix Small Stone Phase Shifter. Great Phaser (if you've got this and a MXR Phase 90, what more do you need in the Phase Dept.), Quiet, American made, True Bypass, with the Color switch, it's like 2 pedals in one. I was instantly conjuring up Bob Marley tones as well as the lead sound to "Ten Years Gone" by Led Zeppelin. Definitely buy one, throw it in the 'Toolbox', and go. I really liked the variety in sounds. Great value for the money. Russ has 'em, they're $89, great investment, and you won't get bored with it.

Jason Allwood's 'Swamp Dog Pedal Pick of the Month' for April is a 'no brainer': the Dunlop Crybaby Wah. Basically a foot-controlled tone knob, this pedal could be called the most famous, most played pedal of all time. I could list all of the people who have played one throughout the years, but I thought it would be easier to list the ones who haven't.......I can't think of one! Everything from 'Shaft' to 'Voodoo Child', Funk to Metal, Blues to Reggae. If you haven't bought at least one yet, you need to rush out and grab one. I'm a self admitted 'Pedal Freak' (I'm seeking counseling for it.), but give me a Boost pedal and a Wah and I'm good.
Stop down to Swamp Dogs and see what all of the fuss is about, you don't want to keep being known as 'the one guitarist in the world who hasn't played a Wah' do you?

Jason Allwood's 'Swamp Dog Pedal Pick of the Month' for March is the MXR Carbon Copy Analog Delay. Without a doubt, the FINEST Delay I've ever heard. It has an absolutely clean signal with NO noise at all, up to 600 ms of analog Delay, and True Bypass. MXR has stepped up their game lately, making 'affordable boutique' Pedals. There are 3 knobs: Regen.(Repeats), Mix (Level), and Delay. There is a 'MOD' button on the front, with 2 internal trimpots for Width and Speed. The Mod button adds Modulation (a slight 'Chorus' effect, or 'Tape Flutter', as on old Tape Echo units.), and definitely helps you achieve those elusive David Gilmour tones we all love. I was able to achieve some very realistic 'Tape Oscillation' sounds by turning the Regen. knob to about 9 o'clock and 'slamming' the Delay knob to 0 real quick, then adjusting the Oscillation speed by turning the Delay knob. VERY COOL! Within the first 10 minutes I wrote 3 songs using the Pedal. Violin-esque Volume knob swells with a Delay Pedal never sounded so good. I'm not a huge fan of Delay Pedals, but I am now. Actually, no I'm not, I'm a fan of THIS Delay Pedal. I thought the Boss/Roland Space Echo was the coolest one around, until I played this one. There really isn't anything this Pedal can't do. Also, I really appreciated the small, Pedalboard-friendly size, lack of noise, and True Bypass. Russ has them in stock, expect to pay around $159 (Worth every penny!), and expect to use it all the time.

Jason Allwood's 'Swamp Dog Pedal Pick of the Month' for February is the Way Huge Swollen Pickle. Yes, you heard right, I didn't make that up. Though thriving in the 90's as one of, if not the first, 'Boutique' pedals around, Way Huge ended production in 1999. Way Huge founder Jeorge Tripps went on to work for Line 6, and most recently, Jim Dunlop (Who now distributes Way Huge.) helping design their new Jimi Hendrix line of pedals. Enough history, let's dive into this thing! Definitely the 'Mother of all Fuzz Pedals', the Swollen Pickle can produce virtually ANY Fuzz sound your sick, twisted, little mind can conjure up. As if the 5 knobs on the front (LOUDNESS, FILTER, SUSTAIN, SCOOP,& CRUNCH) weren't enough, this new version also includes 2 internal 'Trim Pots' for CLIP and VOICE. If you suffer from ADD, you'll most likely NEVER get bored or run out of options with this one! A true Tone Tweakers' Dream. I easily pulled up the classic Fuzz tones (Mudhoney,+ every other Grunge band from the 90's.), as well as modern Fuzz (Queens of the Stone Age.). And the bottom end....Oh my god! True Bypass, Bulletproof construction throughout. Get one now! This is going to be the hottest pedal out there for some time. Russ has the whole line (Fat Sandwich, Pork Loin), AND, at the time of writing this......Swamp Dog's is the ONLY place around that carries them. The epitome of Boutique, this Pedal sells for $159.

Jason Allwood's 'Swamp Dog Pedal Pick of the Month' for January is the Danelectro CoolCat Vibe. True Bypass, it's basically Robin Trower in Pedal form. Instantly conjure up those 70s tones without bringing the Leslie out or trying to find a working, vintage UniVibe (Good luck on that one. then, if you do find one, are you really gonna take it out to the bars?). The Vibe is quiet, with a strat and a clean tone you're pretty much in the zone in minutes. Swamp Tone. This thing sells for about $50-60, I would suggest that any serious Blues/Rock guitarist own one, but I could also hear the potential of this in a Jazz trio, comping some B3 licks. Very cool, did I mention it's TRUE BYPASS? That means when it's off, it's off. Russ has got 'em, that's where I got mine, and I plan on using it alot.
