swank's Interests
General
Journalism, Music, cultural phenomena, Politics, History, Counseling, Art History, Painting, 3-D art, Music, Music etc.
Music
I have an open mind to all music - I will give everything a fair shot. I cannot stand people who dismiss music upon one listening. One has to clear the mind and give it a fair shake - then if it is shit, so be it.
Movies
LOVED Trainspotting, Hi infidelity, Being John Malkovich
Television
A lot of British shows - (who knows why?)- and why do the Americans have to copy every British idea? (ie: The Office, Cracker, Queer as Folk, etc.) Simon Cowell and Mark Burnett have had their day - enough is enough!
Books
Bukowsi, Kerouac, - I tend towards non-fiction like Oscar Wilde's London, Women of the Raj, etc. Love O Henry, Flannery O'Connor, Tennessee Williams, Doug Coupland, Anais Nin, Henry Miller, William Burroughs, blah blah blah
Heroes
Tommy Douglas, Terry Fox, Rosa Parks, Lady Mary Wortley Montagu, Mary Wollstonecraft, Emmeline Pankhurst, Virginia Woolf, Nellie McClung. REMEMBER, FAME DOES NOT A HERO MAKE.
About me:
We are two... great ladies from Canada.
We got sick and tired of not seeing information on the new indie bands, new artists, cutting edge designer styles (preferably local), and it appeared everything was becoming gentrified. Boring!
AND there was nothing written about Vancouver and its great neighbourhoods.
We are writers for Swanktrendz.com ezine and we interview/write concert/CD reviews (as well as other popular culture). Come see our site at http://www.swanktrendz.com and view for yourself. We review the latest gigs, provide publicity and get great interviews.

Our single's out! It's the new, improved and scientifically enhanced (with magic electronics and stuff), must-dance version of , 'Lay Down The Law' (an NME Track of the Week), and if you've seen us live, it's the one where everyone throws their drinks in the air and goes apeshit. It finally gets a full release on CD, 2 special edition vinyls and an exclusive 3 for 1 digital bundle, all featuring brand new, non-album B-sides that we slaved over for you - no bullshit live versions or crap remixes here.
The 1st 7" is a transparent vinyl with a gatefold sleeve that the second 7" coloured vinyl slots into like a tasty vinyl pie. The exclusive download bundle features the 'as voted for by the public B side' cover of Sexx Laws by Beck, we love Beck btw, as well as a preview mix of our first album with Matt blathering on about how all the songs happened, all for the price of a single track download from Tunetribe.

I don't know if this will end up being put to music or not. I have a bunch of these little snippets as I call them. They start as random thoughts. Something pops in my head and I write a few lines down. None of them have made their way into one of our songs yet. I do have a few to re-write in the next week or two, so who knows.
I'm in one of those moods where I am sick of the hidden rules that society places on us all. Combine that with the constraints of my day to day job, and I'm ready to quit. I channeled that into a little writing. Hope you like it.

PS: I took the picture on the beach in Mexico. My kinda day at the beach!
