JULY 16 - CHANGE OF ARTIST

Due to unforeseen circumstances with immigration and related work permit problems, Aaron Weinstein has not been allowed to perform at Swansea Jazzland by the authorities. We are grateful to saxophonist Lee Goodall who has agreed to come and play the gig with the Dave Cottle Trio.

Lee is well known as a multi instrumentalist, sympathetic to almost all areas of music. He began his career at an early age, moving to New York in 1978 to study Jazz, where he played with many of the Jazz greats, returning in 1985. Best known for his Saxophone and Flute playing, he began on Guitar and is also in demand as Drummer and Percussionist.

He has continued to teach Jazz at various Colleges and Jazz Summer Schools, as composer, performer and arranger (writing for television, radio and theatre) and has been recording artists in his own studios since 1981.

He won the BBC Jazz Soloist Award on Flute in 1989 and has played with many great names beside his own, including touring and recording with Van Morrison.

Hi Dave, cheers for the add...!

I got your details from David Griffiths at the BBC. He suggested contacting you for a gig with my Quartet..? Said he'd give it plenty of promo..! I've also been Rhys Owens teacher at LCM for the last 3 years..! Small world...!

Best wishes.

Joel.

Still open for bands!!!
One of Wales’ biggest and newest events, encompassing 2 days, 4 stages, 60 bands, and the capacity for 3000 people!
The festival is for charity, with proceeds going partly to help projects in the local community and partly to help young musicians in the area, with advertising, their equipment, etc. The ethos is very much that it is run like a community, so people helping each other out rather to help cut down the exchange of cash. We aim to work with ethical companies, aim to actively promote both welsh music, and environmental issues and solutions.
Check it out at www. thesquarefestival. com
And get in touch for further details.

I was told about the sad passing of Alan last week who supported the club every week,he was a lovely person who had a wonderful way about him.
He was very complimentary of my playing and always put a smile on my face whenever i spoke to him.
I will miss Alan,we need more people like him to support the musicians who play for very little money , but love what they do, and with Alan there ,there was always a friendly face with a compliment forthcoming.
R I P Mate, thanks for the encouragement
