The SWAT DJ's (S.W.A.T. Stands for Soul With A Twist) cut their teeth rocking house parties in the early and mid nineties to the sounds of Run DMC, Eric B & Rakim and Grandmaster Flash. The Funk based sounds of the time chimed a chord with each of the-then school mates, leading to an ever increasing interest in all things Funky and soulful.
Today, SWAT are based in Sydney and rock it to the latest and the greatest in Disco, funk, Electronica, Indie, Nu-jazz, broken beat and jazzy hip-hop. Their favourite acts include anything on Ninja Tune, DFA, Knowfoowl, Stones Throw, Rhymesayers, Daptone, Tru Thoughts, Raw Fusion, Invada, Gomma, Bearfunk, Jalapeno, Fort Knox, Ubiquity, GAMM, Quannum and Good Groove (to name a few!) as well as all the sounds of the original Block Parties from back in the day.
SWAT currently hold residencies and regular spots at all the important venues in Sydney and regularly make interstate Sorti's, playing alongside some of the best in the Business. Recent International supports have included Dimitri from Paris, Ashley Beedle, DJ Dexter, Marc Hype and Jim Dunloop.
The near future for SWAT sees production work and remixes, a Label and above all, good times!
