The SWAT DJ's (S.W.A.T. Stands for Soul With A Twist) cut their teeth rocking house parties in the early and mid nineties to the sounds of Run DMC, Eric B & Rakim and Grandmaster Flash. The Funk based sounds of the time chimed a chord with each of the-then school mates, leading to an ever increasing interest in all things Funky and soulful.
Today, SWAT are based in Sydney and rock it to the latest and the greatest in funk, Nu-jazz, broken beat, mash-ups and jazzy hip-hop. Their favourite acts include anything on Ninja Tune, Catskills, Knowfoowl, Rhymesayers, Unique, Daptone, Tru Thoughts, Raw Fusion, Invada, Jalapeno, Fort Knox,Freshjams, Ubiquity, GAMM, Quannum and Funk Weapons, Good Groove(to name a few!) as well as all the sounds of the original Block Parties from back in the day.
Venues we have rocked recently include Tonic Lounge, Civic, SOHO, The Argyle,The Loft, Sandbar, Chinese Laundry, Ravesis, Middle Bar, World Bar, Moretons, Marquee and The Roxbury playing alongside some of the best in the Business.
The near future for SWAT sees production work and remixes, a Label and above all, good times!
