    sweatboxSF's Interests
GeneralHi! I'm DJ White Castle. Some people call me Chris. I recently moved from NYC to the Boogie Down Bay. I host the SweatBox party at Milk (2nd Fridays), SweatSix at Club Six (last Saturdays), the FAME Hip-Hop Karaoke night at Poleng (last Fridays), Lovers and Friends at Easy Lounge (every Thursday for all you East Bay heads), and other assorted blowouts. The experiment at my parties: put a few hundred of our closest friends in the same room with world-famous DJs and see what happens. What I like about the music at my parties: it's hip-hop you want to hear, reggae, R&B, soul classics, all that jazz. What I like about the people at my parties: they're beautiful inside and out. Here's what else you should know about me: For a guy who's a water sign, the move from my landlocked NYC neighborhood to the Bay has been rejuvenating. Oh, and I like justice. For everyone. That's why I work at a place called the Greenlining Institute. I'm blessed with the love of a big family and true friends. I have many heroes. First are my folks, who model love. Then there's Gandhi, whose every political battle was a spiritual one too (I guess just like KRS-One, Tolstoy, Cat Stevens, all those seekers). I also admire all of you who kicked the Repulicans out of the congressional majority in November 2006 ... hey hey hey, goodbye! For those of you in the Bay, big up to your town. The music is good out here, the BBQs are frequent, the views are spectacular. I hope you'll come to one of the parties and introduce yourself. Peace! NATIVE ELEMENTS
Without a doubt, San Francisco's own Native Elements are one of the hardest working and most respected bands in the Northern California reggae scene. They have been nominated for a San Francisco Weekly, Local Music Award (Wammie) and BAM Magazines, Bay Area Music Award (Bammie) for Outstanding World Beat/Reggae Club Band. With a myriad of musical influences ranging from classic r&b soul to the deepest tradition of Jamaican and English dub, Native Elements delivers a dynamic sound that appeals to all music lovers. Native Elements are a collective of musicians and singers who have been performing professionally in different settings for over a decade. The culturally diverse music scene of the San Francisco Bay Area has fueled their creative flow from the start. After explorations with rock, funk, blues, and r&b, Native Elements has set their repertoire firmly in the roots-reggae tradition. They combine their colorful influences into an amalgamation of positive, vibrant music that speaks from the heart. The magnetic music of Native Elements has been emanating from Bay Area clubs and outdoor festivals, for many years with Humboldts world renowned "Reggae on the River", San Franciscos "Reggae in the Park", and the "Monterey Bay ReggaeFest" festivals being the most recent. They have shared the stage with a host of world renowned acts including Bunny Wailer, Burning Spear, Culture, Toots & the Maytals, Black Uhuru, Pato Banton, Lucky Dube, Eek a Mouse, Yellowman, Big Mountain, and Gregory Isaacs among many others. Recently, featured on the DEBUT movie soundtrack, Native Elements has been reaching audiences around the globe with their conscious music. Their contagious harmonies and powerful rhythms have won over praise from musicians, fans and critics alike. Even some of the most discriminating Jamaican ears have found Native Elements sound to be as authentic and genuine as their staple of music back home. With the direction and production artistry of the legendary Twinkle Brothers (Ralston Grant and Norman Grant), Native Elements has captured a Jamaican-fortified sound with universal appeal. Their Nice n Up Records debut, Nice n Up features 9 original tracks with alternate dub versions mixed by Englands sonic sensations Derek Fevrier and Dub Judah. The diversity of singing and melodic universal rhythms bring forth a fresh element of native, roots reggae to the Bay Area music scene.

JAH YZER
Best Reggae DJ - Wickedest selecta (East Bay Express 2004 by Eric Arnold)

The bearded Miami export pretty much has the whole Bay Area dancehall scene on lock. He's known for his residencies at Frisco clubs such as Club Dread and the former Storyville, but has been fairly busy on this side of the bridge as well the past few years, rotating in and out of the mix at Oasis' Lion Rock on Wednesdays and the Down Low Lounge's King of Kings on Sunday. Yzer is always equipped with a fresh stack of criss 45s straight from yard, and his crates hold 'nuff history, as far as roots reggae or classic dancehall goes. If you're lucky, you might even catch Yzer spinning breakbeats as if he was born to do that, too, vamping to Lowell Fulson's "Tramp" as fluidly as the latest Sizzla or Bushman dubplate.

Jah Yzer is also a chief member of Jah Warrior Shelter Hi-Fi. Jah Warrior Shelter is the undefeated Bay Area Sound Clash Champion, winning 5 Bay Area Clashes in a row: The official VP Records KMEL Sound Clash in San Francisco (1998), The Settlement Clash in Oakland (2002), The Bay Area 45 Clash in Oakland (2002), and the Unity Clash in Berkley (2003).

DJ FUZE
FUZE (aka DonJon) busted onto the international Hip Hop scene in 1989 as the DJ and co-producer of the now infamous, legendary, and funked up Digital Underground. After producing several Gold and Platinum tracks with DU, and the now immortal Tupac Shakur(R.I.P.), including "Freaks Of The Industry" and "I Get Around", FUZE began working with The Luniz in 1994, on their multi platinum debut album, "Operation Stackola", and joined the group as their DJ, on a 2 year world tour, supporting the international smash hit, and number 1 all time bay area heater , "I Got Five On It." Since 1994, FUZE has made a conscious effort to return to the side of DJing he loves best, which is rocking party's, and has worked steadily since then, doing just that, in the Bay and far beyond. Always wanting to stay on the cutting edge of club DJing, FUZE is now making a name for himself in the reggae club scene, with a residency at" The Oasis" in Oakland, for the "Golden Touch Music" monthly promotion "LABELLE". Yet, whether its Dancehall or Soca, Merengue or Bhangra, Zouk or Soukous, backpaky or turfy hip hop, its obvious that FUZE is in this shit "Fo Life." Check out young FUZE in the critically acclaimed film "Tupac Resurrection".

REN THE VINYL ARCHAEOLOGIST
You need to find a DJ who can rise above the hit parade yet still be there to save your life with something you can really feel. You need someone who can educate as well as motivate. Perhaps you need a vinyl archaeologist. A prime-time player in the '90s roots and conscious scenes, Ren has blown up big-time with his roving club, True Skool, to become one of the Bay's foremost curators of hip-hop culture, scoring umpteen legendary artists to appear at his events. Despite the props to heavy science dropped in his DJ moniker, his skillz come off more Indy Jones than Leaky. He mines his crates for crafty gems, rocking solid gold and soulful academics into mixes aimed to spark your thoughts and move your feet. (Marke B., SF Bay Guardian, 2/9/05)

DJ HAYLOW
Originally born in LA (Ladera Heights), DJ Haylow moved up to the Bay in 1997. His first passion was playing drums, which began in 1993. He began to rhyme in 1996 (just freestylin) and began DJing in 1997. When he came up to Frisco in 1997, he found a new appreciation for underground Hip Hop. From then on, he's been DJing, rhymin, taggin, and living life in the Bay Area. A member of the Distortion2Static, the premiere SF-based Hip Hop TV Show (on TV-20 Sundays at midnight), Haylow can put it down on the 1s and 2s with his smooth blends and dope cuts.
