Influences
So much great music.. From the pioneers of electronic pop music in the 70's and 80's, to the latest sounds in many genres. Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode have always been a huge source of inspiration to us. Newer bands and artists like Air, Bent, Björk, Goldfrapp, Ladytron, Portishead... And Wendy Carlos, Ennio Morricone, Henry Mancini, Angelo Badalamenti.. But in general we like to listen to melodic music from all over the world, in many different genres and styles.
SWEEP is a band from the small town Fredrikstad in Norway. The band was formed in late 1996, and our main goal was to make some catchy electronic tunes inspired by the music we've grown up listening to in the eighties.
We've always been fans of synthpop music, and we try to mix that influence with more recent sounds and inspirations. The major driving force to us is to have lots of fun making music, always try to explore new ideas coming along, and play many more gigs in the next ten years of SWEEP. Disco : "Sweepeepee" - Five track EP, 1997 (Centrevibe Productions) "Emptiness, Your Loneliness" - Single, 2001 (A Different Drum) "Miss You" - Single, 2002 (A Different Drum) "Two Players" - Album, 2003 (A Different Drum) "Watching The Morning Sun" - New single and album out soon! (A Different Drum).
