Pueblo Elders in Southwest America say that in the beginning of Time, when People were just about ready to step upon Mother Earth, their Creator gave them one last gift - corn, 4 kinds of corn... yellow corn, associated with the South, the home of the grandmothers and grandfathers who give spring and new life... red corn, from the West, that gives long life as our spirits travel westward with the sun... white corn, from the North, which gives strength... and blue corn, from the East and the rising sun, that brings wisdom and understanding. s/he told People to be corn's caretakers and showed them how to plant, harvest and use the corn for food, medicine and prayer.
Please join us for our DEBUT GIG on Friday 12th June at The Cross, Moseley, Birmingham. From 8pm. Only £6 on the door with support from Jack McNeill and Charlie Heys.
"This record is pure instinct with no attention paid to belonging. It is raw intellect and emotion. The Present is indeed both GIFT and NOW. Open you ears and your mind will follow. God Bless this record for teaching me that." - Brian DeGraw, Gang Gang Dance
HIPPOS IN THE SHOWER! Next week! Doors 7:30pm, show 8pm.
Mon 13, Tues 14, Wed 15 October
The Black Box, Hill St, Belfast
£8/£6 concession.
After three sell out runs in Belfast (Old Museum Arts Centre, The Empire Music Hall, Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival), the 20- strong colourful crew of Hippos in the Shower delighted audiences last month in the Edinburgh Fringe festival, spreading hippo magic in George Square Theatre and on the streets, furthering Belfast's reputation as one of the UK's artistic 'hidden gems'
When taxi driver George encounters a hippo in his dreams - and then in his shower - he realises that absolutely anything is possible. Life becomes an adventure of dreams coming true in the lives of those around him.
But will a quiet marine biologist be the final key to his happiness?
well hello there, i didn't know who you were till the hippie told me. how are you doing? i had no idea that you wrote, and i didn't know that that boy friend of yours did too until a while ago. my little girl wants a copy of his musical, push him for me, ive been askin for ages.
Hey, happy birthday. Sorry I missed your meal last night, but my adventure along the tow path took longer than I expected. It seems you travel much slower by foot than bicycle. Anyways, hope it was a good night and I'll hopefully see you before too long when I finally manage to make it down to the pav for a knights gig
This gig is to raise money for the Theatre Knights' performance of Reservoir Cats, an all-female version of Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs which will be performed in Belfast's The Black Box from 13th-16th May. The play will in turn be donating profits to the Belfast Rape Crisis Centre which has been in danger of closure since the Government withdrew funding.
