To Douche Masters everywhere...
This record was recorded originally on September 11 in Holland, but not that sad September 11th. This was a fun one!! It was recorded where the Pooh Sticks and Beatle Hans i think, as well as some others in the Michel family of groops have recorded. At least the engineer is the same... I think, she may have moved there only recently... but i am sure that Michel was a Pooh holding "drum" Sticks on the day we recorded. I used his guitars(the one in the middle of his profile pic) and Leslie played world famous Cor who was in Beatle Hans's bass .Leslie is a cellist(or is it celloist?) that i asked to play bass. I said"hey, it's got four strings ,too. What's the big deal?" Apperently it wasn't a big deal. She learned all the songs in a day. We wrote Leslie Is A Noise Band after we first argued in a bar about the validity of "noise" .Not as an artform-wich it is- but as a form of music-wich it is not?!
On Top Of That Girl was written for Phillip(a.k.a. Beat-It)of the Kidnappers. I wanted to write a song like Under My Thumb for him cuz he's always frustrated by girls and so I did in a hotel in Madrid. Is that too namedroppy? or is there such a thing as "City Dropping"? I am also sure that there IS such a thing as "city droppings" and they are smelly and stick to shoes and asses unfortunate enough to meet them face to face(what?) Whatever i'm doing feels almost as gross but maybe it's interesting info?? You decide. I wrote Cool Kids for him as well in Daniel Bouche(Alien Snatch)'s dad's house in Uttergrupenbach at the kitchen table watching the German version of Jeopardy or something like that. It's on a Kiddnappers single that you all own, right? You'd go find all Kiddnappers releases ASAP if not the case! Here Come The Nice Boys was written because The Small Faces(my love love love) had Here Come The Nice and i wanted to do something similar because the name came from me telling Travis Ramin that this 45 i found sounded kind of like Sweet and kinda like the Faces and he said something like"you mean OUR band,The Sweet Faces!" and Sweet Faces were born.I changed the lyrics to that song after i found out Terry had started a band called The Nice Boys. I had not heard any songs from them and they had no records at the time. I just liked hearing that my friend was going to keep on rockin'. I'm a cheeseball. I know.Anyhoo! Nice Boys are what they called drug runners in the MOD scene of the 60's or so i am told. I'm not saying Terry & Co. are drug runners, but they do have long hair...and guitars...hmmm...bell bottoms...ok,you decide. I just think Terry is a Sweet Face and i can now say that i really love his band...ANNNDD!!! Now thanks to the Douche Master family, here we are, officially. Maybe we'll play a show someday.
