Sweetfire is Shannon Miller, vocals, and Laurel Thomsen, violin and viola. We are based on the Monterey Peninsula and perform Celtic, folk, and original music. Since a mutual resonance with Celtic music brought us together, we decided to make this genre the focus of our self-titled first album which we released in December 2006.
Shannon knew from the first rehearsal that Laurel was a phenomenally talented violinist, who had an ear for music and great skill combined with a soulful heart. Laurel felt that Shannon’s voice had a range of expression and emotional depth with a sweet sound to match the qualities she strives for on the violin. Since we both dreamed of recording a CD, when Shannon provided the initiative to start recording, Laurel was equally enthusiastic. Sweetfire is our extension of this enthusiasm to you.
We strive to provide a fresh interpretation of the traditional music that has inspired us and to share the original compositions that have become an integral part of our repertoire. Our arrangements are the inspiration of the individual musicians of our group. Musicians often joining us for our performances are Amy Krupski, Celtic harp, Jana Heller, guitar, and Andy Gilhooley, percussion.
And a Happy St. Paddys Day to all of ye...day late and a Guinness short. We just about wore out your CD when we celebrated on Saturday. Thanks for the wonderful music and we'll try to hear you live in April.

Hey! You should come perform on a Fri. night at Whole Foods! We do this bbq and have performers who are willing to play for food and you would be so great! Please please please! It is like a couple hours and so many people go to Whole Foods. You all would be so appreciated! Let me know if there is a Fri. night coming up that you could do.
