Sweetish began as a side project of Holly Senchak and Ben Hilt of local band Wonderful Smith. While working together, the two discovered a common collection of decidedly dark home recordings between them that didn’t quite fit what they were doing as a standard pop/indie rock quartet. A desire for independence from other people kept this a two piece at its core with the ability to pick up and play on a whim and often augmenting the cast with talented friends to create the full dramatic rock n’ roll experience.
On stage, the two represent the quintessential pairing of brawn and beauty. Senchak provides the beauty as a multi-instrumentalist leading the project usually from behind a piano or an electric guitar. Her vocal talent is refreshingly her own in an industry bored with gutless female performances as it spans from heart-wrenching honesty to push-me-over-the-edge power. Hilt provides the brawn, thundering away from behind his beastly upright bass, often bowed, and often through effects and full on over-drive. Sweetish shows have been described as borderline performance art, walking a fine line between Cat Power and Motorhead.
"We’d had Sweetish in on our show when they pretty much first started and never got to catch them playing live OFF the radio. What a mistake! But we sure caught them now! So unique! So fantastic! So captivating! If you’ve missed them too... you better hunt them down and catch them next time yourselves!" Di, Razor & Di Show, WLUW Radio
"The end result is a weird and wild hodgepodge of lost black and white film soundtracks setting up shop alongside quiet confessionals in the haunted singer songwriter vein. And then they’ll suddenly just rock the fuck out, creating an aural whiplash that satisfies when it should, by all rights, stun. And then, just as suddenly they’ll slip into inspired paranoia occupying the same dramatic terrain as, say, the Dresden Dolls. Altogether, the band provides an unexpected and sonically expansive ride."Chicagoist
Our new album is out on Friday, May 1st, and nobody anywhere has it yet. If you buy only one the price is $12. But if you buy more than one, the price is less than $9 each. So buy 10. It will cost you about $90, but you'll be able to sell them to your friends for $12 each and make a profit.

Thanks so much for you support! Things are going to change... I can feel it.
They're messing with the wrong girl... taking me for stupid is their first and biggest mistake.
I'll be working on more because my website is getting redone. Do you mind if I use some of these on my site. Should I send a link here, or do you have a different preferred place?
