"ARTISTS WHO KEPT ROCK AND ROLL ALIVE in 2008" from www.irockthecause.org
Little Man - It is only fair that Little Man follow Badfinger on this list. Chris Perricelli is a provocateur of all things Brit Pop. Every track of his latest record Of Mind and Matter would fit nicely on any George Harrison, Badfinger, or T Rex album. Chris by now must be sick of "Big Things" puns that are made. Lets just say we look forward to all the T-Rex sized things he will do over the next year!
Chris Perricelli - vocals, guitar.
Sean Sauder - Drums.
Andy Ferkinhoff - Bass.

With "Of Mind and Matter" (Eclectone Records) Little Man has combined the big hooks of classic Brit-Pop with something uniquely fresh. Recorded in an old hunting lodge in Chicago with producer Ed Tinley (Liz Phair, Ike Reilly), "Of Mind and Matter" takes the listener into a world of wonder. Traces of Led Zeppelin, T.Rex, the Kinks and David Bowie can be found in songs like "Don't Pray to Fantasy," "Talisman," “Get It To Ground” and "Not Quite so High."
Last year, Little Man's third album "Soulful Automatic" generated a great buzz in the Twin Cities. The City Pages declared Little Man The Best Rock Band of 2007 with a cover story and The Minnesota Music Academy nominated Little Man's leader, Chris Perricelli (lead singer/guitarist/songwriter) with Guitarist of the Year. "Of Mind and Matter" continues "Soulful Automatic's" tradition of driving rockers and swoon-worthy melodicism.
The band's name is taken from a character who appears in classic folklore. The little man of mythology often joins the Hero on his journey towards self-awareness when he is most needed. He provides wisdom and talisman and steers the Hero towards the correct path. This small-statured creature is one of the band's primary inspirations.
So, take a listen to an album that is truly sweet to its core. When the music is over, you'll be left with one question: Are you ready to travel alongside the Little Man?
"The 5-foot-2 rocker exudes confidence and energy on stage, bearing a charisma that's much bigger than he is.... Man, what a rock star." - C. Riemenschneider, Star Tribune.*
"Equal parts Bowie and Bodhisattva, Chris Perricelli mixes spiritual insight with massive riffs for maximum impact..." R.V. Alstyne, The Onion.
"The songs are so aurally pleasing that they feel familiar, even while the band's sound is unique and not easily compared to other acts. Perricellis talent on guitar is incredible, and his voice has a sensitivity lacking in contemporary rock music. At times I was reminded of George Harrison's vocals in "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," the way his vocals float and dance with the contrasting power chords and heavy drum beats, creating symphonic delight." - How Was The Show.com*
"...he's got some serious guitar chops, and man, guitar heroism is a lost art. Perricelli and his band pull it off admirably." - S. McPherson, The Pulse*
"The best singer-guitarist to call St. Paul home since Bob Mould"
- P. Scholtes, City Pages.*
Nominated for Rock Group and Guitarist of the Year 2006 by the Minnesota Music Academy.*
Named best Best Rock Band of 2007 by the Twin Cities City Pages.
Little Man was an official performing artist at SXSW 2007!*

" Like Jeff Tweedy, Perricelli perches on that place where Paul Westerberg meets classic rock 'n' glam, while his vocals seek a vein between T. Rex and Dave Davies..."

I just wanted to stop by and wish you a happy Sunday! I hope that the weekend brought you fun adventures, relaxation, and contentment :)
I was going to go camping this weekend, but this is definitely NOT camping weather. So me and some friends went to check out Dueling Pianos. Those guys are amazing - they can play just about any song that's been on the radio between 1950 and 2005.
Anyways, I wanted to let you know about a show we have @ Station 4 on Friday, October 16th. We are debuting a series of one time only performance art pieces. This one is called "AN OBJECT TO CRAVE". Live music and visuals based on a short story about life, love, loss, fantasy, obsession and death.
Another group of mine, The Magnetrons, which plays an exciting and innovative Livetronica set (i.e. STS9, Disco Biscuits, The Histronic) will also be playing. The night will be full of creative, interesting, high-energy music, good drinks and good times.
Here's the info:
Blood Root Mother - "An Object to Crave" w/ The Magnetrons & Thought Thieves Friday, October 16th Station 4 201 E 4th St St Paul, MN 55101 9pm / $5 / 18+
