  • Bio

Sweet Tee writes from a real-life perspective, out of her experiences in and out of the music industry. Her re-emergence on the music scene was signaled by her concern with the images and aspirations of young women who want to pursue careers in hip hop and the music industry as a whole. Sweet Tee feels that a quality rap artist does not have to be defined by gender, and sexuality does not have to be your marketing plan. Hip Hop is a culture and every culture is diverse, yet Hip Hop is about self expression, and it is through this self expression that Sweet Tee will carry the vision of a "True Diva of Hip Hop," street talk that speaks to the world... intelligent, classy, independent and yes Sexy. Because she wants everyone to know that there is a difference in being sexy and selling sex. Early on in her career she was signed with Def Jam on the JMJ label, while on Jam Master Jay's label she had the opportunity to mentor other talent like 50 Cent, also touring with Wu-Tang and others. All of which is actually just an extension of her being the inspiration for so many female rappers, like Queen Latifah who wrote about her in her book, "It wasn't until Sweet T and Jazzy Joyce performed that I actually saw women rapping who looked like me. Sweet T ripped the mike with her lyrics. They had the club in an uproar. Before Sweet Tee and Jazzy Joyce it never really occurred to me that I could be up there, rocking the house. What I needed was a role model and watching their success grow right before my very eyes put the idea in my head." And Foxy Brown who will out in out tell you that the reason she started rapping was because of Sweet Tee. All rappers are the modern day Griots, calling the world's attention to what's going on. Now we are calling your attention to a rapper who will be the next professional oral historian in the Hip Hop Empire. Ladies and Gentleman, once again we give you "Sweet Tee"
