WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT US:
The Sweptaways sing choirarranged a'cappella-versions of songs performed by artists such as Lesley Gore, Jenny Wilson, Pet Shop Boys, Kiss, Black Sabbath, Embassy, Monica Törnell, El Perro del Mar and Kate Bush.
The Sweptaways are thirty women dressed in color-coordinated, thematic or just simply elegant costumes, plus an equally elegant choirleader who arranges and directs.
Their debutalbum "Ooh Aah" was released November 22nd 2006 on Hybris, preceded by the single "Wuthering Heights". It was followed by the EP "Cry Cry Christmas" in December 2006. And their second Cristmas EP "Christmas Party" was released December 1st 2007, with some very special guest stars: Marit Bergman, Magnus Carlson and The Gray Brigade.

"We always long for the stage. We are a crazy lady in bikepants and plume tottering on high heels. We are a distinguished gentleman tipsy on portwine. We are dog and cat. We are lipstick and crocodile tears. We are women without borders. We like it when the breeze cools us. We like wearing things on our heads. Parrots, foilage, owls, high hats, turbans. We like pineapple, spandex, feathers, gold, pumps, green forests, love and respect. We hang in vines and do somersaults in a neat row. We are one body with a gigantic heart and almost thirty brains. We are constantly involved in complicated choirdemocratic processes. We almost never cease to surprise ourselves. We are overgrown children from the Langley School who broke into the costumecloset. Our wardrobes are as big as our ambitions. We love fake hair and things that shine. We are magpies on the hunt for silver. We like wings, birds and sounds from the animal kingdom. We preen in colors of the rainbow, tyrolean glee and tutti frutti, as wild animals, secretaries, clowns. politicians and all the countries of the world. We are a happening. A festival. A packagedeal. We are many surprises all in one. We yell hurrah with an uncomplicated relationship to singing technique and sheet music. We are a coverband, a band of pirates, a band of pearls. Call us a ladies choir if you so desire. We are the choir that everyone (in the choir) have been longing for. Here you go, close your eyes, listen and try to envision us. Open wide: say Ooh Aah."
