ABOUT THE SWEPTAWAYS We are a crazy lady in bikepants and plume swaying safely on high heels. We are a distinguished gentleman tipsy on portwine. We are women without borders. We like wearing things on our heads. Parrots, foilage, owls, high hats, turbans. We like pineapple, spandex, feathers, gold, pumps, green forests, love and respect. Our wardrobes are as big as our ambitions. We are one body with a gigantic heart and thirty brains. We never cease to amaze ourselves. We are a happening. A festival. A package-deal. We are many surprises all in one. We are a coverband, a band of pirates, a band of pearls.
The Sweptaways are thirty women who sing choir-arranged versions of pop tunes. Thirty women in color-coordinated or thematic costumes, who always long for the stage and their extravagant live performances.
Their debut album Ooh Aah and the EP Cry Cry Christmas were released in 2006, followed by the EP A Christmas Party with The Sweptaways & Friends, 2007 (with guest stars Marit Bergman, Magnus Carlson and The Gray Brigade).
On the 25th of March 2009 their second album is released, The Sweptaways Show, where the choir ladies like in the The Muppet Show have been honored by visits from celebrity guests.
ABOUT THE ALBUM THE SWEPTAWAYS SHOW The Sweptaways have put on their cocktail dresses and are standing in the bar, batting their fake eyelashes. Glasses are glistening and the ice is tinkling.
One after another the guests drop in: Robyn, Howlin' Pelle, Asha Ali, Moneybrother, Nina Ramsby, Jens Lekman, Björn Olsson, Simone Rubi, Uje Brandelius and Sir Eric Beyond. Welcome to The Sweptaways Show!
