Skate Park to be Built in the New Swift Cantrell Park in Kennesaw.
We need your help:
The City of Kennesaw has approved the addition of a skate park in Phase II of the Master Plan for the Swift Cantrell Park, located at the corner of Jiles Road and Old 41(Main St.) in downtown Kennesaw.
The City is breaking ground on the first phase of Swift Cantrell Park soon and is scheduled to have most of Phase I completed by late Spring/Summer. Since the skate park has been planned for Phase II of the Swift-Cantrell Park development, $1,000,000 in FUNDING is needed to move the skate park construction into Phase I or early Phase II of the scheduled park construction.
The City of Kennesaw Parks and Recreation Department has money set aside for Phase I of the park, which includes the infrastructure of the facility: grading, water, electricity, streets, and walking trails. The remaining park amenities are not yet funded. If the residents of Kennesaw would like to see the skate park built in Phase I or early Phase II of park construction, we need to promote fundraising efforts in support of the skate park. A group of Kennesaw citizens (individual residents and local business owners) have formed a committee to organize fundraising for the skate park. The committee will also be closely involved with the City and the consultant heading up the Swift-Cantrell Park project to provide direct input and feedback about the skate park’s construction. The committee estimates the cost of the skate park to be $1,000,000.
If we get the word out to the skate community and the public...and contact companies...we will make this happen! The Committee has set up a Skate Park Fund to receive donations. Please make donation checks and money orders out to the CITY OF KENNESAW SKATE PARK FUND.
The mailing address is:
